The car looks pretty good except for the past ding/rust.

What are your plans for it?

Well that is going to be a huge job then! Your wife will be pissed for awhile then!

Just to get a m42 to 200 hp na is a lot of work, I'd suggest a big brake kit then to oppose the donk. Heaps of options there.

What's with all the blue figure 8 wiring, stereo?

True, about the Canadian dollar.
But in Australia we buy a $200 part from America get to checkout and then, they try charging $750 p+h.
Oh crap cancel cancel!
Plus finding extractors for rhd car real pain in the date, not to mention getting the things in.

Anyone know why the camcover and inlet manifold are black, aftermarket?

I thought 318is all had a/c, or was that just Australia?

All you really need to do for alternator is clean bearing and brushes, there pretty indestructible!
Or replace with brushless permanent magnet alternator.

They all had A/C in the US, but Euro and Canadian cars could be had without. My 318is is from Vancouver and without A/C. It's nice cos I have a single-mass flywheel, but no A/C and black vinyl seats make it almost unbearable on hot Los Angeles days. Thinking about shelling out for 3M crystalline tint (you can get it almost clear, but it still blocks heat) and cloth sport seats, cos I'm so tired of my shirt sticking to my back.

Looks like someone probably took them off and painted them.
