wazzu, you made the right choice by going stand-alone. The Motronic 1.7 is a robust, fault-tolerant control box for sure. However, it is sort of slow by any modern standard in terms of throttle response and it can't utilize a WBO2. Even with a MAF on there with a stock ECU, throttle is not as snappy as it is on darn near nay new car. On top of that, there is all the "cracking the code" hassle involved with the stock ECU, when stand-alone setups are MUCH more open in terms of sharing tunes and such. Megasquirt is not the best stand-alone out there, but I do believe that it is by far the best one for its price point.
