Trunk storage tray question
« on: March 03, 2013, 09:53:12 PM »
My car came with storage tray accessory above the battery tray. I can't find any info under the ETK/RealOEM for the BMW PN: 72601929409  which is listed on the underside. I want to know if there is a clip that connects the tray to battery cover as they both have a hole in the middle. This is a longshot but maybe someone knows the answer.

TIA

I don't have the exact answer you're looking for, but after rooting through my 20-year bin I used a nut plate similar to this http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Nut_Plate/ES74224/. It took a little trimming of the hole, but it works.

Cool, that's one option.

Hi:

The connecting part for the two tray halves is made of metal, black rubber and hard white plastic, and is 7/8th inches in length. At the top of it is a slot for a screwdriver to turn it to expand the rubber section and hold it in place. I should have enough time on the weekend to take a picture and post it.

That being said, I don't have it hooked up in mine. As long as I don't flip the car over, gravity and friction hold the upper tray in place quite nicely by themselves.

Thanks.  A pic would be nice to see what it looks like for my curiosity. But with the new battery tray I bought, no hole was there. I guess not to many flipped in the past that they required to keep the lock...lol.

Link to the picture, as the embedded image requires too much scrolling for my taste.

thanks. Would have never thought it looked like that. The biggest with this part is the rubber as it needs to seal the hole. You dont want a liquid falling from the top onto the battery. That is my guess for it.

Happen to have a part number for that bolt?

Also, it looks like it's sealing and pinching at the same time.
