Every weekend I head over to the hobby shop on base. It's a garage where you can work on you car. Lifts, tools, etc.... I hang out to help beginners with their cars and help out around the shop so when my car needs to be work on I don't pay any fees.

So last weekend I pull up and find brillantrot 318is sitting in a stall. Thought it was kinda cool and asked about the owner. Old lady that also owns a MB and hardly drives the e30. This puppy has only 57,000 miles on it. Paint has been cooked in the Vegas sun, engine is dirty, the dash and seats are cracked, and the bumpers are cracked. The shifter linkage is also shot also the brakes and master cylinder are on the downfall. This is a one owner car and purchased in Guam.

KBB

Condition     Value

Excellent    $3,465
Good    $3,110
Fair    $2,705

So I am thinking Fair valve but I would only like to offer the lady $1000 at the most. Am I wrong for this or should I offer more?

The value of my Vert is as follows

KBB

 Condition        Value

Excellent    $3,310
Good    $2,935
Fair    $2,475

My plans would be to garage my Vert and drive the coupe. Restoring the Vert to greatness and make the coupe a DD.

How much money should I offer the older lady for her car? All the downfalls to this car make me want to offer $1000 dollars.

i'd say $1500 because the car does have really, really low mileage!

$1000 might be a bit of a lowball..

I think $1k is right considering the condition. Just get some rough estimates together for the lady so she doesn't think the price is insulting. If you price out all the items that need to be fixed, it can definitely climb past the $2k+ mark easily.

57.000Miles?? wow thats just broken in?? Give there 1600 and tell her that you take good care of it and you will fix all the broken parts. How does it run/sound? You can very easy destroy an engine if you never check oil (how old is she?) PICS?????

That is what draws most people but really depends on the previous maintenance.

One of my friend's had a brand new Accord that broke down within 36k miles. This is a Honduh we're talking about which is very rare to break down but can happen if you neglect the maintenance on it.

the maintenance is in check. this lady would bring the car in even if there wasn't anything wrong with it.

pics will come on tuesday. hobby shop is closed sun&mon.

cars run strong and sounds great. it seems to get moving faster than my car.

This car doesn't have fogs. and the iS lip is gone. I'll defn get pictures on tuesday, and have them up by that night.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Ask her what she wants for it? Depending on her answer - nego. your way without being too offensive obviously. You should have a casual convo with her asking her if she'd sell first of all before going offering $$ IMO....

Somewhere between 1 and 15.
It needs a bit to clean up, and the parts are not cheap.

Hard for me to believe that that car was well maintained
It looks like it would need alot of attention .
But at least not rust attention.;)

900.00 dollars tops

I agree - it looks beat from the exterior shots. What did the interior look like? That is always the tell tale of how it was maintained for me.

Definately do a background check(carfax) to see if mileage is accurate .
