I have a volvo 850 radiator fan hooked up to my m42 right now. I have it hot wired in so its constantly running (just temporary). I was having some issues with my temp switch but I think it was due to the coolant system not being bled properly. Its good now... when Im cruising down the road the needle never goes past 1/2 mark on the temp gauge. But sitting in traffic is a different story. Its crept up to the 3/4 mark I think twice since I got the car back on the road... I thought it was due to the AC being on, but this morning it did it again with no AC. I need to wire in the fan properly to really tell if its a problem. Its supposed to be a 2 speed fan but I havent seen the second speed kick on... probably due to my hack wiring job. Basically I just want to know if I should find a new fan or should I keep pluggin away with this one? I'm hoping that if I wire it in properly, I'll get some better results. I have the lower temp switch in the radiator. I also removed the AUX fan. I'm using that to power the volvo fan. Do I need to use the 2 speed relay from the AUX fan? Ive seen the 2 threads that have the volvo fans setup... and they said there's worked fine so I'm guessing I'm just paranoid. I read somewhere else that someone eliminated the mechanical fan and replaced his stock aux fan and just ran it like that with no problems. I'm willing to go a different route if necessary. I just want the car to stay cool. Ideas?
