Ok so some of you may remember my car and other thread about ITBs. Well things have changed since then. After my itb project stalled i started to wonder weather i should continue mondify the m42 or purchase something with more potential and something that was a bit my common in the race world. After doing some research i decided on the s14 m3 motor. so the search began for a suitable engine. needless to say i found this.

its a 2.5l bmw e30 m3 sport evo motor. it has a set of big cams, carbon intake and alpha n piggyback ecu.
because the engine wont be in the car until next year, this gives me time to sort our alot of small jobs. like new seat, suspenion bushes, sway bars, roll cage, etc.
i already have my seat which is a omp grip which is getting on wednesday

i also pulled my dash out and got rid of my a/c, heater, blower fans, radio and tidy up the wiring.

this is the end result, i plan to make up a switch board when the new motor goes in

so alot of changes are happening and i will be updating this thread as soon as something arrives. next event is mt cotton hillclimb in brisbane on the 30th so if anyone is going out there please come and say hi

the s14 was 7k.... thats with dogleg close ratio gearbox, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel and shipping from usa to australia.
bit of an update got my seat installed by rx automotive who made custom side mounts

Update!!!!
got new rear springs because i thought it sat a bit to high. Also selling off the motor before christmas which should give me money for front suspension uprade, new subframe and roll cage.

How much power are you putting down with that motor? Would a regular s14 go right into an E30 or was there a lot of modifications?

The S14 fits in the 318,325 the same as an M3 since they are all E30's.

The stock Sport Evo motor put out 238HP at the crank. With A-N and tuning anything is possible.

Yer they bolt straight in same sub frame. This motor puts out around 210rwhp, so about 260 at the flywheel.

Hey gtatbrissy, Nice job on the score of the Sport Evo motor. BMW's usually have a drivetrain loss of about 17%. So if you take your 210 x .17 =246. Close:-)
this is what E36M3's are making on the dynojet dynos at the rear wheels (205-207) and that puts them right around the 240HP mark that they are advertised at.
If you ever decide to rebuild it think about changing the compression and tuning and you should see a nice increase in power. That motor stock only has 10.2:1 compression....11.5 would be a world of difference. Then you're in the 300+ crowd if you do the right set of cams.

Thanks mate. It already has a set of cams, it made 260hp on an engine dyno I was just estimating a rwhp figure. I do want 300 hp eventually lol

Ok kool on the cams. I'm sure that you have a set of Schricks in there? Prob 284/276..... There are definitely more aggressive cams to move up in power but that also moves your power band up too. If it's a street car then I would stay where you're at but for a track car there are a lot of different options. That also depends on if you'll change out the pistons for higher compression and deeper reliefs as to not have an interference issue.

It is a race car. I plan to keep it the way it is for now until i get bored lol then i will proberly get more aggressive cams, light weight piston etc.

some parts started arriving today. i am also shipping with a different company now because the previous on did fuck all in 2 months.
as the pictures tells i got new control arm bushes, engine and gearbox mounts and longer wheel studs for a big brake upgrade next year.i bought these from ireland engineering who are a great company to deal with and i highly recommend them. i am also getting a new front subframe so i will fit the control arm bushes when i get that. also ordered momo mod 07 steering wheel.
apart from that it has been pretty quite, should pick up pace after xmas
