I heard that a good improvement on acceleration would be to get an aluminum flywheel. Has anyone bought this one?

Automatic transmissions have special flywheels and from whot i thin kthey're pretty light, if you want to improve handling of your car, conver to manual IMO

I bought a full swap kit for my 325 for $120...tranny, used clutch, pedals, master & slave cyl, subframe, tranny mounts, shifter rod, etc... I'd put in a new clutch kit (~$250), a short-throw Z3 shifter (~$100) and replace all the rubber & plastic bits. Doing your own work with a bit of scrounging could make it even less than the $500 I'm spending.

If you farmed it out to a decent indie mechanic I'd guess it could be done for about $1000. Keep that in mind if the automatic fails.

Humm that does help with a parts list of what needed to do the swap. I guess the best thing to look for would be a salvage car and take all the parts off that. My list of things i wanna do with the car is growing longer and longer. Im glad all the interior and exterior is all done.

Manual Flywheels don't work with automatic transmissions.

Autos typically have light flywheels anyway, since they also have a hefty torque converter hanging off of the flywheel as well that has to spin.

I think thats what everyone is trying to say man.

If you get yourself a 5spd a good alternative is the m20 flywheel shaved down to about 12lbs or so. I wouldn't go any lighter because you may start to get chatter.

Anyway the answer is a definite NO, NO as in, it will NOT work with your autotragic :p

I must add that your car looks absolutely gorgeous...a 5spd would definitely make it MUCH better.
