Did a 'Trackday' (well afternoon/evening actually) last wednesday, free pitlane from 17:00 to 19:00.
Made good use of it as i drove the better part of 1,5hours or so.. had 2 minor issues...
Brake pedal 'moved' under the clutchpedal, 2 years ago i forgot the add the clip that holds the pedal on the pivot pin :D  -> temp. fix with duct tape  :o
And the the bonnet came loose, nut fell off.. refitted the nut and went on again :D

in the dying minutes of the session i ran out of fuel, had a to back to the paddock by the rescue crew :)

Some of the general track action: (not my movie.. i pass the camera 3 times, including the famous ran-out of fuel at the end of the movie)

22th of July i spent a full day at the Zandvoort track in Holland, she held up well!
The noise is still at terrible levels, the exhaust might be leaking, so that is up for further development.

on a non m42 note, my 'old' trusty towing car... the volvo.. is up for sale, it was great fun with 350nm and shaming a regular porsche 911. but with 30.000km's a year it is cheaper to buy a diesel.
so i brought a land rover discovery td5, which also has a towing capacity of 3500kg! (compared to the max 1600kg of the R)
Now i take up 4 parking spots! (i live in an apartment, so some people aren't really happy with that :P )

Nice video looked like there was a lot of e36s there, what does the finished car weigh?
That's a noisy exhaust you have.
What mods have you done to the engine?

The car weights a nice round 1000kg with ~30lt of fuel, without driver.
the exhaust is leaking somewhere, im going to reweld it (catalyst has been cut out) ..  rear section is stock.

Engine is bone stock.. it is cheaper to make the car lighter instead of adding horsies.

Wow I didn't realize e36s weigh that much even the ti?
My standard e30 weighs less than that according to compliance plate 950kg.

FYI general rule of thumb 1 kg off the rotating mass of engine equals 16 kg off the car.

That car looks amazing, congrats!

I believe the compliance plate on my E36 says 1320kg..so i took a good 350kg out of it (and added some back in with the cage)
The TI should be lighter (no trunk, less doors)

Next event is in november, at Spa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_de_Spa-Francorchamps)
So i got time to fix my exhaust and see where my power went?!
I will take it to a rolling road end of september/october to see how many hp i've lost over the years.

okeeey... from my original plans, none came to fruition..  :o
still havent got to a rolling road, let alone went to spa! (went to the TT track in Assen, the Netherlands last february tho)

On a side note, i retired the volvo from towing duties and brought something more capable, a land rover discovery TD5.
joke what you want about reliability, in the 7 months i have it now, no problems yet (knocks on wood)

ok, almost -well actually- a year later, the car goes to a rolling road!

in the mean time i 'fabricated' a different radiator mount.. but it wasn't perfect as i could not get the air out of the system, had to dismantle the rad, hold under an angle and soosh - gone was the air.
took me a full day to figure it out :(

it has been quite with my M42, mainly due to the fact i'm about to retire the little bmw engine!
this summer it will get an Saab B204 engine fitted (with an opel omega gearbox)

Why an saab? it has an tuning potential of 600hp without opening the engine!
The plan is it to keep it stock the first season (135hp vs 150hp is an improvement already) and later going to remap it (210hp / 350nm) and go slowly improve my car to the higher power output.

During the last trackday it became clear that i've should used some locktite here and there:

That is an E46 330i/d/ci 325x25mm brakeswap btw... lotsoffmass to keep braking at the heavy tracks.

went shopping in the UK last weekend :)
Got an AST 5100 coilover set for an E46 M3 (but with 80nm/mm springs instead of 140nm/mm) - and got the front hubs too;
full carbon rear interior cards;
E36 M3 GT style front lip

and a gimmick, ex btcc AP Racing brake discs, measuring a whopping 365mm and are only 80km old!

Rear spring for the coilovers will be send to me, along with an E36 GTR snorkel - looks a bit like the front part of the S42 STW airbox.

after arriving back in holland, drove straigth to the shed to testfit te parts, got the lip alread fitted (previous had the GT corners - not the lip) but it totally transforms the car.. really excited about how it will look when the car is back on its wheels and with a proper rideheight!

With great thanks to www.raceparts.biz for supplying me the parts!

Some older pictures:
Lightweight doors from Pesch.cz (horrible fitment but cheap)

With full carbon doorcards from raceparts.biz (good fitment/quality but a tad expensive)

Radiator placing and also a smaller radiator from an VW polo:

this is not suitable for roadgoing cars!! runs hot when idling after a session on track with no wind, fan helps, but is not enough.
