since I mounted the E46 330 front brakes i took some time to bleed them.. 2months doing other stuff... but now they are done and good lord!
stomp (really hooligan stuff stomping :P ) on the brake pedal @ 80km/h and it locks up! oh and her 'ass' comes quite a bit up and floats around a tad.
.. and I have my koni shocks at full hard... can't wait to give her a go at a track!

But for now my race car is in fab-mode :)
i'm reposition my rad (with external resevoir) and naturally force inducing the little M42 (like the 320 stw)
The lower part of the M3 bumper will have a duct for the rad (and the hood for the hot air exit) while the kidneys will have a airbox connected to the maf.

It has been quite some time since I updated my own tread..
This morning I towed my race-car to my new appartment so it wasn't sitting in the way at my parents place.
She can drive on her own power, but it has no license plates and I have no snow tires that fit (need 17" wheels to clear the 325mm brakes) so i rented a trailer :)



At least now I can look at her.. I will have no time & funds available since I will be getting married in september this year.. and that is more important then making her faster.

some updates:
I got myself a tow hook (front uses a tow strap) with a funky sticker which adds 5hp at least :)

for the european guys, I got it from Fullcartuning.com, D1 Spec sells it... they have to order it since they mainly deal with honda's.

215/45/17 in soft compound.


now I have no excuse to go full throttle at the track :D

Wahaha well for that i need more power first ;-)
Going any wider will not get me enough heat into the tires i think. (what would an empty e36 coupe weight? (also no heater).. with the stock 140hp to work with)

There was lots of the discussions about this - books, racecar engineering magazine ETC.... The wider you go the better it is. You can use softer compounds if you afraid that tires will be to cold to get maximum.

true, but there is a trade off between lap times and tire width.
in a oversimplification wider is better.

but in practise a wider tire gives more drag (both aero and mechanical) - it is heavier (therefor different shock+spring setting) - requires a reworked suspension design.
I agree that a wider tire works better simply because the less load there is on a tire the better it works (and lower tire rate vs spring rate interference)
Sure, going from 7 to 8 won't change much (apart from weight) but with 140hp I don't see there is a benefit, remember.. i'm not racing a 1200kg M3 ;-)

Also you will get better steering response and probably grip if you mount the same tires on 8" rim. IMHO 215 is too wide for 7" rim. And I think 205 is the maximum for 7" rim.

Removed the cat for more breathing 'room' :) and make it better flowing at the same time (no more 90degree bend)



Can't wait to test it.. I think it would be noisy, even with cat there was a little pop coming from the idle when going from 1200rpm to 800rpm, now it will be a loud pop? time will tell :P  (oddly my other car doesn't have that small external combustion gadget)

I am personaly missing Italy and Tratoria Brea in Bergamo alot. Hope I will have good contract in Italy one day.... One of the counties I want to wisit again ;)
I am thinking you are on the good route, but folow the route which already made  10 years before. Do not try to invent bycycle! :) Just do copy paste instead of this ;)

time for some updates!
After moving here from my parents to my house, it was time to move her again :)

Yup, that is indeed a E30.. a rally car ;-)
After moving her to this oversized 'shed' i got some new motivation to work on her.
First off tiding up the electrics:




Still got a lot to do:


And I brought myself a rear spoiler that wont allow me to park next to the fast & furious boys at the local mc donalds, a STW replica rear wing!
