Rx7 S.S. Caliper Conversion Bracket - $65 shipped
« on: February 12, 2010, 02:01:06 PM »
So these are finally ready to go.  I'll have mounted pics tonight showing the caliper mounted on the car.  I don't have the rotors yet, but this should not be an issue.

See this thread for any questions pertaining to the setup.
http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83511

Things to think about with this setup:

Will my wheels work with this setup?
 - There are no set in stone answers from what I can see.  I know that a 15" rim might still be pushing it for clearances around the caliper so take that into account.  The biggest issue is going to be your caliper to spoke clearance.  This setup might require you to run a spacer.  I can't not tell for sure though if it will in fact need it.

What else will you need for this conversion?
 - If you follow the thread created by Tchao in the Brake subforum, you should be able to figure out what is required.

As stated before, these are fabbed from a 1/2" x 1.000" piece of flat bar, fully CnC'd flat and then stepped.  All the holes are drilled at the same time to maintain the correct placement.  The holes will be tapped for m12x1.75 thread and I will be including the hardware required for mounting.

I am going to work this in a stepped fashion.

0-3 people = $75 shipped

3-6 people = $70 shipped

6-10 people = $65 shipped

10+ people = $60 shipped

This GB will run for 2 weeks at the end of which I will be purchasing the material to make the sets.  Payment will be required with 3 days for the GB's end so I can pay the fab shop.  There maybe a lead time of a week or two depending on the amount of brackets purchased.

I will ship out side of the US but I can offer the same rates listed above.  Please contact me to work something out.

Also, please keep any question and/or negative input to a PM please.

Pics of the brackets:

Line adapters -More info coming on those.

Are the FD calipers 4 pot?

And correct me here, but this is what I am understanding...

FD Calipers, Corrado rotors right?

But the rotors require a modification?

Yes.  The RX7 Calipers are 4 pots.  They must be the 2nd gen, 1988-1991 Mazda Rx7 Turbo Calipers however.  The standard ones will not apply.

Yes, this uses corrado brake rotors.  The I.D. on the rotors is 65mm wheres the hub dia is 66mm so the rotors have to opened up.  Its a pretty easy thing to do that I am sure most people could get done for cheap some where.

I do have interest in this. I'll let you know if I can scrounge funds. What is the diameter difference between the E30 and Coraddo? Also, which corrado? G60 or VR6? And would I be using the stock hardware to attach?

And this is fronts only right?

Yes, fronts only.  As for the hardware.  The taps in the plate are M12 x 1.75.  They should be the same as stock so all the same stuff.  You would only need 2 more bolts for the RX7 caliper mounting points.

You will need the front rotors from a 1990 corrado g60. I am in the process of putting together this setup personally as well.  I do know that the dia on a corrado is 280mm vs the stock e30 dia of 260mm.

This is interesting.  Will this upgrade require a larger (15+) wheel?

Yes.  Also due to the larger caliper, it maybe necessary to put a wheel spacer in, depending on your caliper to wheel spacing.

Thanks!

I have a set made for myself.  I want to check the fitment prior to making a bunch of sets.  If everything checks out, then I will sell them.

Not right I don't as I have not uploaded the pics, but tonight I will.  Everything should clear.  They are 7/16" x 1.000" finished width.

Wheels will be dependant on what you have for an offest and dia so I can't give you a exact answer on whether or not they will work with the wheels you have.  I do know how ever the the smallest wheel you could possibly squeeze on there is 15".  Realistically I would suggest going to a 16" for added clearance for caliper.  Your next issue will be the caliper clearance to the spokes on the wheels.  I'll see far out I have to space mine to get the clearance tonight.  I have Kosei K1's w/ an et41
