Those hoses from Ebay seller "hiperformancestore" look quite promising. Only thing is, they don't seem to have a kit for our 318 and its m42 do they? Is there one I could order in lieu of that? Thanks again for helping me out. (btw, I have a temporary fix of several rounds of electrical tape on my cracked hose and it's managing my small commute each day no problem, so I have a small window of time to order these parts)

my car idled at 1200 with the icv unplugged when mine was doing what you say yours is. the only difference is mine would drive rough when you tried to speed up or down. i cleaned all the connections in the engine bay and it ran funny for a bit more and hten suddenly is working fine now.

might try just wiggling wires if it keeps going after you change your hoses.

Yeah, as I was saying I have a temporary fix on that hose, which consists of a several layers of electrical tape around the hose fairly tightly. No more odd problems, but I can still faintly feel that it's being affected. So it's alright until I get said parts.

Actually, by "temporary" I meant until they fail...I've been trusting my electrical tape job for about a year now. When the weather breaks I'll be replacing all the hoses.

That seller had offered to sell me a kit (like the e28 kit) with extra hose for a few dollars more. I'd cut & fit the M42, then report back with exact lengths & pictures. He'd then refund the extra money if my work was worthwhile. I got the impression that he was a pretty good guy to work with.

His offer is a good fit for me, I love to tinker. Definitely beats off-the-shelf prices at Summit (for SAE hose that doesn't really fit).

^ I got the same kind of impression, and it sounds like a good idea to me. With a little bit of work you could have some great hoses that you could put in there confidently. If you decide to go through with that, let me know. As I've been saying, I would really like to get my hands on some of those. haha.
