Turbo Pics and questions

well, now im semi seriously thinking about buying this...around 12k NZ$$ which is probably 8.5k US..good buy? makes 180rwkw, so around the 280hp mark (i thought 350 was a little high!)

now has an m20 gearbox (bolt pattern the same, just cut and rotated the bellhousing) after it lunched the m42 one.

totally convinced about 4 cylinders after driving my car (m325i), my mums 318 and a mates M30 335i. so its either this or importing an m3...leaning towards the m3 as they rock, but i could maybe do a partial swap with my car for this.

hmm ideas!

Most common application is E46 1998-2001 328i. Also a ton of other models.
$43 for the coil and $5 for the extension from FAP99.com.

And the mount plate from bmwman91.

Hey do those coils require a new engine menegement ?

No, they plug into the existing coil leads.

Does anyone know where bmwman's original sheet metal CAD drawing could be found? I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to make one of the plates if I had a nice template. Thanks guys.

You'll be hard pressed to find many users with M42 turbos, they're few and far between.  I've seen maybe 3 posters on various BMW boards with M42 turbos.  There's a few other pictures of M42 turbo setup floating around, but I don't know who they belong to.

I've looked into turbo'ing my M42, but engine management and a manifold have been the biggest problems.

I have an M42 turbo that is destined for the track, but it's all the little things that kept it in the garage so far.  It was a much bigger project than I was expecting, and I've done something similar before.  Had I started with a 318 instead of a 325 it would have been easier.  The car runs and there is a You Tube link around here as well as some pics.

Where are you getting your pressurized oil from to supply the turbo?

I added a VPD oil cooler and cap which features a port for pressurized oil supply.

none, you just need the coil (the rubber piece that goes onto the coils) and the custom made flat bar that allows the coil packs to be bolted down.

is that link to a used part?

how much do these usually go for?

We sell the COP kits.

We have a new batch of COP kits available.

The kits include top grade hardware (no home improvement store stuff).

$185 w/coils (shipped in the US)
Coils are used but tested prior to shipping. One coil is modified to fit in Cylinder 1.

$80 w/o coils (shipped in the US)
