hey guys order an oem skid plate from bmw with the hardware. the parts didn't come with any instructions. anyone have instructions on how to get this on? where to drill how big to drill. thanks.

Hey I wasn't aware of a OEM 318is skid plate. Can you post the part #?

I used the part number in the bolts picture to find this on realoem, took 2 seconds:

02 FRONT AGGREGATE PROTECTIVE PLATE 51711971001

FITS FROM 9/87: (like is said on davelengths website...)
Part 51711971001 (FRONT AGGREGATE PROTECTIVE PLATE) was found on the following vehicles:

E30 318i SEDAN
E30 318is COUPE
E30 325e COUPE
E30 325e SEDAN
E30 325i SEDAN
E30 325i COUPE

Yea, but the one you posted is for 87 and below. The one davelength has has a cutout for the oildrain plug for a m20 motor. I have the same one dave on my cabrio. I wanted to see if there was a 318is specific plate with a cutout for the m42 drain plug.

i got the one with the part number: Part 51711971001

trying to see if there is better pics of the bolts in the back to see how those fit.

What I did was find some nutserts, had them welded to the subframe since the e30 subframe has holes but no thread for the attachment point of skidplate.:rolleyes:

Then drilled the two holes up front under the bumpers

I went to a local specialty hardware store, but can also get them online. I would rec going local since you need to size them up along with the bolt to go with them.

Does your skidplate have the cutout so that you can change your oil with the skidplate attached?
