Thanks for the advice, I checked the trans fluid and it seemed to be within the suggested levels. While I was under the car I checked the guibo and it showed some wear but to me it didn't look like it needed immediate replacement. Didn't know if this could be a possible symptom of a failing guibo or not. Your thoughts?

For Sale / Testing NH waters 1991 318i custom

As the title says i'm just testing the waters, i don't need to sell and really don't even want to but i'm interested in finding out what i could get for my little e30.

Not trying to hide anything so bad first

BAD:
lost most work orders when my basement got flooded out :(
bit of a rough idle but runs and drives fine
recently heard a slight rattle in 2nd and 3rd gear (comes and goes)
Speedometer doesn't work and others work when they want (Tach and mpg always work)
some trim pieces on the dash are loose
Aftermarket stereo the previous owner installed comes out very easily
1 inch crack on passenger's side of dash
some rust on the front fenders and underside of the rockers
Doors only unlock through central locking through the trunk
and the passenger rear door has no power to it through the lock or window

in all i think it's in pretty decent condition.

GOOD:
original Diamantschwarz Metallic paint
original M42!
was told it has custom 260 duration cams from previous owner
Lowered on Bilstein coilovers
4:10 LSD rear diff
Magnaflow Catback exhaust welded (VERY loud)
Head gasket replaced in March (no record) had 176xxx now has 188xxx
Clutch has plenty of life on it
recently Chipped
Two sets of headlights including French high beams
Will come with 4 original 14" bottlecaps (3/4 center caps) and 4 15" enkei wdm's both with tires and 16 heat treated locking lug nuts
Sport front seats
6000k HID low beams
Bavauto skid plate
comes with ix front lip and bavauto lip both in sort of rough shape
comes with original suspension as well with billstein upgraded front struts
rear strut bar
Pulls hard for such a small engine

I'm probably forgetting a couple things but it gives you a pretty good idea of what it has in it. I know it's a very custom car and it doesn't suit everyone and i realize this will effect the overall price.

Truly hate to sell it, i love this car. If it doesn't end up selling it'll just go through a rebirth in the spring.

Engine + Driveline / Transmission Rattle

Greetings,

Heard a very strange noise coming from my transmission the other night. It's hard to describe but it sounds like a metallic rattle coming from the transmission near the shifter. Only happens at the top of 2nd and throughout 3rd gear. Shifts smoothly and only happens while under load. The shifter is not shaking. The more i accelerate the louder it gets. I haven't the slightest clue on what it could be. Has anybody else experienced this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Issue resolved

Finally got into the car via the trunk. tried everything imaginable even tried the trunk before but nothing worked, then last night I gave it one more shot before calling a locksmith and *POP*.

Maybe the bimmer could sense my frustration. However door locks still won't unlock the car, ill have to rebuild them

I did try the passenger and trunk locks same thing happened.

Double locked? Any specific way around that?

So this afternoon I went out to grab something out of my e30, now its been sitting for about a week or so. I went to unlock it and nothing happened....

I had the key in all the way, jiggled it, tried everything but it won't unlock with the key. I turned it to the right however and heard the actuators kick as if to lock the doors. Don't want to have to carry a slim jim around everywhere to break into my own car. Anyone else experience this before or any advice?

hey there,
new to the forum and to my 91 e30. wondering if someone could share some knowledge. i own a 318i and the rear passenger door doesn't seem to be getting power. wont lock with the central locking and the window wont go down. Haven't taken anything apart yet just wondering if someone knows of common problems i might be experiencing or will run into.
