Cams had oil starvation for a brief time so has scoring on 2 of the bearings, and rust on several lobes from sitting in the garage. These are 5 degree cams; they are unknown spec but ran great with stock tune but are 5 degrees off of stock to allow more aggressive timing.

Suspension / H&R Sports with KYB's for a daily?
« on: October 11, 2009, 04:48:47 PM »
I don't think you'll be oversprung and bottoming out, but you'll be outside of the normal usable range. That's the benefit of the billy sport is that its a shorter shock to begin with, so its sitting closer to the middle of its usable range, whereas yours is towards the bottom of its. Only drawback to this is that the shocks will wear out faster, since they're having to work harder than their supposed to. That being said, I'd run these until they wear out and then save up for billy sports, its what I did w/ my ireland's on some cheap shocks until they wore out.

Engine + Driveline / M42 Aluminum Flywheel options

I think they take a single mass and retro it to fit the M42.
They can, its from an m20, but the OP already said he doesn't want to go M20 route. I'd still suggest it though, n terms of prices, can't beat m20 since its a huge difference in weight from factory m42 w/o the price of an expensive aluminum one.

Engine + Driveline / irratic idle, cuts off

where is it located?

btw the car runs now but gets terrible mileage and poor responsive on the throttle.  Idle is steady.
Its the black plug on the side of the throttle body. Hope that gets it all fixed. My guess would be hoses, but since you checked those I got no idea.

Looks really good w/ the new stance. I've got a friend w/ an alpine e36 4 door that's almost identical but running K1's and has an s52, love the sleeper look of the grey bumpers. Moved thread for you.

alright thanks for the input guys im gonna pick up some of the ones from bimmerworld

what about the front strut mounts?  recommend any?  have have ie camber plates for the front didn't know if i needed special ones.

I have the GC ones on order right now, so I'm gonna have to go w/ those for a camber plate. I've heard horror stories about the ireland's actually raising the front end on cars when they put them on because the camber plate is so large.

jt? Sorry I'm not familiar w/ those initials...
The IE ones will work, just a lot more expensive and not needed. I almost bought the rogue ones, but am not gonna track the car, just a daily driver so don't need to spend ridiculous costs on the car.

Bimmerworld has a set that is I think 35 plus shipping or so and their guaranteed for life. Pretty good considering the stock ones are 5 dollars less and are known to fail.

yeah, you a$$hole, you should be giving your $hit away for FREE. or at the very least, not complaining about it when people throw half-ass copies up on ebay for a third of the price. how DARE you try to make a living by developing products that people might want and then SELLING them? what do you think this is, America?

...gotta love the e30 crowd

facepalm.jpg

Considering you can get an e30 for a thousand dollars off craigslist pretty consistently(not always the best of shape but they are out there), and the majority of the other options are around 150 range, and the majority of e30 owners are young. Why would he expect a ton of sales for more money?

Check your Rear Shock Mounts. Those are notorious for going out and making a clunking noise.

Sounds like its definitely oil, but sadly I think you'll need to pull it apart to tell with any certainty where the oil is coming from and whats broken.
