For Sale / Cleanest E30 in New Jersey for Sale, 1991 BMW 318i

This 1991 BMW 318i has gone through an extensive restoration since January 2008.  I bought it as a trade in from a dealership that I worked at in South New Jersey.  It was originally an Arizona car and was in Arizona just prior to being traded in.  It was strpped down to the bare metal and repainted in July 2010 in BMW Black Sapphire Metallic paint.  It has a full Alcantara headliner and rear deck.  The front seats are power leather sport seats from a 2005 E46 330i and the rear seats were recovered in leather.  The wheels are new BMW 14" bottle caps with new Michelin tires and new spare also.  The suspension has also gone through upgrades as well with Bilstein Sport front struts, Bilstein rear sport shocks, H&R Sport Springs, and H&R front and rear sway bars. The front wheel bearings and rear axle bearings have all been replaced. It has Brembo cross drilled rotors on all four axles with Pagid Sport brake pads.  It has a Sony cd player with a 200 watt amplifier that has an auxillary input for IPod or IPhone to play music. All the moldings on the sides and both front and rear bumpers are new as well as the side marking lights and both rear tail lights.  There are a lot of E30's on the market, but you will not find one as clean as this one anywhere in the northest and with absolutely no rust anywhere.  Please contact me @jgraves_caliente@yahoo.com or call me at (856)332-3217.  SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY, because it must go and I'm only asking $4,500.00.  Check EBay for this listing and pictures.

General Topics / E30's NEED TO REPRESENT!!!
« on: June 04, 2010, 03:08:11 PM »
I never said there was anything wrong with bailing hay and attending to farm animals.  I did enough of that growing up in North Carolina myself, but I don't pick arguments when I know I do not have the right facts.  The fact is,  the BMW E30 revolutionized BMW forever, period.  Nobody at BMWNA or BMWAG will ever argue against that, because it's the absolute truth.

No not at all.  I don't take anything personally said on any of these forums, but I do know while you're in Oregon bailing hay or milking cows we'll be having a good time on the eastcoast at a real BMW Show.

The 2002 was introduced in America by only a handful of dealers, but it was not until the E30's were introduced in 1983 that BMW's popularity grew.  Furthermore, no other BMW model worldwide has sold or broken as many sales records like the E30.  The 2002 did not have a good body resistant to rust and that's why you don't see many of them now.  The E30 was the first BMW ever introduced that electrically charged the body, primer, and paint to make it resistant to rust longer than the previous E21 3 Series.  That is why there are so many more E30's on the road than the previous BMW's and 2002's.  I'm not knocking the 2002's, but fact is fact.  The E30 is "the Champ."

The BMW E30 hit the US market in the early 1980's and started the entire BMW phenomenom worldwide. I need a little help from my fellow E30 owner's. BMW of Mt. Laurel's Vintage BMW Show on June 19th, 2010 needs as many E30's on the eastcoast as possible to attend. We already have strong representation from the E36's, E46's, and E90's. We also have strong representation from E46 Fanatics, Bimmerfest, and E90 Post. The E30 started all of this and it would be a shame if you don't represent the most desired BMW of them all, the E30. Engine + Driveline / Converting an S54 to OBD 1?
« on: March 29, 2010, 08:21:25 PM »
Yesterday, I went to a BMW Meet at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. There were quite a few E30 M3's with the S52 and S50 engine conversion. The thing they all have in common is what everyone wants. Has any company anywhere in the world been able to accomplish changing the E46 M3 S54 engine to an OBD 1 conversion? I have asked this question on other forums and all I get is BS instead of the truth.  I think it's a shame that there are plenty of BMW owners that have actually put a Corvette LS1 engine in either an E30 or E36 and convert it to OBD 1.  The S52 is an awesome engine, but the E46 S54 is ten times better with 333 hp from the factory and able to push out over 500hp with the right modifications.  Zionsville Autosport in Indiana is close to solving the elusive "German Code", but they will not release anything to the public until their findings are bullet proof.  This is what most E30 Fanatics want and I don't know of anyone that's done it yet. If you know of anyone please let me know.

Yesterday, I went to a BMW meet at Liberty State Park in New Jersey.  The park is on the water located directly behind the Statue of Liberty.  It was very surprising to see over 100 BMW's at the show.  BMW had representation from practically every model new and old.  One member even drove his Lamborgini and stole the show.  It was a lot of fun and really made everyone appreciate the time, effort, and personalization everyone has put in their own BMW.  If a small group like this can bring 100 people together, DeSimone wants to bring 500 together at it's dealership on June 19th.  None of you will be disappointed if you attend.

General Topics / Good bye all!!!

I originally bought my 318i to put an S52 engine in her, but she is so strong and quick.  I'm seriously debating on doing it now.  I'm concerned whether it's worth to change the timing chain and all it's components or replace the engine with an S52 engine.  The thing that bothers me is that it has over 207K and I can get parts easily and cheaper than for an S52 before I can a M42.  Plus, I can buy a M42 engine for almost the same price I can replacing all the components of the timing chain.  I would have done this last summer if my engine wasn't so damn reliable.

Oh mannnnnnn!!!  I love my M42!!!!  That is exactly what I originally wanted to do!!!!  I admit, I'm so fu@$ing jealous!!!!  But if my M42 ever fails me it's a done deal!!!

Engine management / Failed emissions.. Please Help
« on: March 21, 2010, 01:31:53 PM »
I did practically the same thing when my car failed the first time.  Every BMW technician I talked to all told me the same thing, the cat might be bad.  I was lucky that she passed after I did a complete tune up.  Many people don't realize that cats get backed up with smut and need to be changed every 15-20 years from what they all told me.

Exterior / Any advice on locating body panels?
« on: March 20, 2010, 06:43:52 PM »
Don't forget about Bavarian Auto.  They still carry many parts for E30's the dealers have either discontinued or will charge you three times now for the part.  Here is their link.

New updates.  The show is not just going to be a lot of pretty BMW's looking for a prize.  The BMW Corporate Headquarters are sending representatives for The M Brand and The 5 Series Group to the car show.  The new 5 Series is being introuduced to the world in June 2010 and what better way to take pictures, see it, touch it, and feel it than at a car show.

General Topics / When should the timing chain be replaced?
« on: March 19, 2010, 07:10:08 PM »
The only complaint I have about replacing my current timing chain and all it's components, is that it is expensive.  It's going to cost me over $800 for all the parts alone.  Plus, you have to replace the head gasket to do it completely right.  The information on this thread has really given me a lot to think about.  I know I'm going to change my timing chain, because getting stuck on I95 between New Jersey and Atlanta is not something I want or need to happen.
