I don't know how you would diagnose it.  I ended up finding a website that listed all of teh coding plugs and what car they came with.  and for some reason, my car had one out of a 325i.  try http://www.realoem.com for a part number adn see if it matches the one you have?

Engine management / O2 retrofit problems?

ok, so I put in the Intrepid O2 sensor retrofit thing peopel were doing over on R3V, and it worked fine for a while, but now when I accelerate hard (ie:0-70ish MPH) the little green lguht with two arrows will come on. Anyone know what this light means, becasue I cannot do the "CHECK" light thing to check the codes. When I turn the car off or if I let the car idle for a while, the light goes away, and won't come back on until I do the accelerating hard again

How-To's / DIY M20 flywheel conversion

Well, you need teh m20 clutch tool (i just used and adjustable one).  This is a very good mod.  the engien revs up much quicker, and it definatley feels faster.  The idle has smoothed out completely, but it did get harder to drive smoothly but maybe thats my combination of this flywheel and a 4.45 diff haha.

well, I lightened the m20 flywheel to just over 16 lbs (minimal lightening), and right now I'm in the process of re-assembling (tranny mounts are on their way)  I'll let you know how everything worked out as soon as its up and running.  And abotu the harmonic balancer... Metric Mechanic originally came up with theis little mod, you don't think that they would have thought it through?  I don't know though, oh well, it's too late for me to go back now...

Engine management / Dinan Chip?

Had an ebay chip in mine, was great for 6 months then just as people said to be leery of, it fried the ecu...

Pay the extra and get a good chip IMO. I coulda got a markd chip for what I ended up having into getting the ebay chip and then the new ecu.

It seems to me that if the chip was to blame, it would have fried the ECU right away?  Maybe I'm wrong.  You sure it wasn't a bad coil, I've heard they can cause damage to the ECU

In the summer I've been running Royal Purple 15-40W and have had no problems so far, and I do several auto-crosses and lots of mountains road driving.

Engine + Driveline / to skin a cat (m20 flywheel swap)

But can a machine shop balance it? or does it have to be balanced with it attached to the crank?  Sorry for all of the questions, I just want to cover all of my bases before I have the flywheel machined

So How has it been decided that the flywheel should be balanced after it is machined?  Would your avarage machine shop be able to balance it, without needing to balance it on the crank?

Back on topic, does anyone know how much exactly needs to be machined off?  And what do you have to do to compensate for the material machined off?
