You know what we did 1st time? Put the fuel lines on the wrong way round - try that, its embarassing but SOOOO easy to do!

And some different injectors - mustang in America, Vectra in Europe.

Either way you'll not get much difference - but SOME difference is good! Heatshielded is best, of course combined with decent tubing too.

You're more likely to notice better throttle response than more power with it though...

Looks a bit gash, but cheap is cheap! I prefer my cherry bomb, but thats mental loud. That will be a bit quieter (you should always be able to see cleanly through a backbox btw.

Engine + Driveline / Mustang Injectors in an M42 engine

Long term for me - definitely a little up on power and torque. Still definitely getting more MPG - ALWAYS over 300 miles to a tank, once as much as 350 combined motorway and to/from work! Done a few thousand miles on them now too.

Anyone else?

I doubt it spanish_pants, but it'll be a benefit if anything - more efficient fuel burn = less emissions.

Engine + Driveline / Can I use old head bolts after removing
« on: July 24, 2009, 02:03:21 AM »
No, with a big bar, turn them all 90 degree's after doing the 24ft-lbs, then do them another 90 degree's. Its just a funny BMW technique of torquing down in stages. Can't remember Nm off the top of my head though.

Sounds an aweful idea - lack of torque = fail IMO.

I actually had a gap between the injector and the intake hole - hence filing it down so they sat inside. A gap would mean unfiltered air etc getting in. Guess it depends on the car/set-up.

Glad it worked though!

UK cars have 1 front box, 1 midbox and 1 backbox, no CAT. I've chopped the midbox out (kept front box to keep some backpressure) and have a cherry bomb rear. Yes it is pretty damned loud (I'd have a quieter backbox if I was you!), but I have noticed some small gains, especially once I changed the injectors too, I've got vauxhall vectra 2.5 v6 ones on there atm and its helped.

Yes i know;) it's made in '91 and written(or how do you say this:confused:) in for the first time in '92.

Registered is the word you want, as in 'registered in 1992'... :D

Nice looking car anyway, very clean! I would definitely try to find some sport side skirts for it though! Then it'll look even nicer.

papercutout, just for the record, you mean you filed down these two points? You took the thread bolts out I assume.

Nope, I didn't take the thread out, I was just very careful not to mangle the thread so much it wasn't at all useable! Obviously, if you can be bothered, removing it WOULD be the best idea. It'd also make filing it down a hell of a lot easier!
Just to make life easier - were stock injectors to go back in, they would still fit fine, they'd just sit slightly further in.

tjts1 - when I did mine the o-rings were pretty much sat on top of the injector holes, hence filing it down. So obviously it does apply for some injectors, although filing down is probably better than fitting a washer in there ;)

What country are you in?
I gave an injector number above. As said, look at the mustang injector thread, its not just mustang injectors on there! My ones are 2.5 v6 vauxhall vectra ones...

Put a 2.5 in ;)

But otherwise, what tjts1 said :D I can speak for #0280155712 injectors, he can speak for others. For that money (are you doing the work yourself?) you should be able to cam it too. I know someone who's got a very nice cam for sale in the UK, if you're from the UK.
