Has anyone ported their stock E30 M42 throttle body? I figure it can't hurt to try it if idle isn't affected by porting/enlarging. I'm not looking for massive power, just a little more response Let me know what your thoughts are on this.

On a side note, has anyone gasket matched their intake manifolds and header? This is a trick I did on my MK3 VR6 to get a few free ponies. Just wondering if anyone has any experience.

I was planning on doing this, but when I got the manifold, the ports were already matched so well that I dont think it is worth it.

I think to make any cyl head improvements a flow bench will be necessary.

the exhaust mani and gaskets are a decent bit larger then ports in the head

Stock headers FTW. That means from the factory we get the anti-reversion for exhaust flow!

I'm interested in the Throttle Body, I wonder if it will yield any noticeable gains besides throttle response.

2002Maniac: You're right, and if I did any headwork I'd want to see exactly how much flow I am getting on a flowbench. Seems like the M42 is a free breathing motor, perhaps the only gains are from valve lapping and cast-flash removal.

The intake ports are matched very well indeed but the intake runners, where the injectors are mounted in, are a fair bit smaller then the gasket/intake. Would it be wise to port match the intake manifold?

Because of the smaller diameter, the air velocity is higher, followed by a bit of turbulence just after the injectors, thus a good air/fuel mixture. Has someone done this before? Would i gain something with port matching the intake manifold?
