Picked these 15" basketweaves up today for $175 bucks. Thought it was a good deal, but they do need to be refurbed. Thinking of doing it myself, so if anyone has done this or has any tips that would be awesome.

Well, these rims are powdercoated I assume, but I have had very good luck with wheel paint. Clean them with paint remover, do any gouge repair, clean them with starting fluid, then bake them in the gas grill to remove any volitiles. Then a few good coats of color, followed by a few coats of clear. let them dry enough to handle them without leaving finger prints and then back in the grill. take them up to about 200 degrees F for 20 minutes and then turn off the gas and let it sit for another 10-15 minutes then open the lid and let them cool completely. The paint is rock hard.

I also like to put my paint in a pot of hot (but touchable) water to warm it up. It sprays finer with less runs.

My concern is that when the wheels are patched and painted the old tires will obviously have to come off. Will mounting and balancing new tires cause the filler or paint to chip?

This is going to take a hell of a lot of filling, sanding, painting......

I believe 325ix. Euro models? These came off of a 325is but i don't know if they were standard on that car.

check the offset. 24 and they're euro weaves, higher (35?) are ix wheels.

Will these rims even work (91 318is)? I think their from an ix b/c the offset is 41. I'm no expert on rims so i may be wrong, but I guess they will work with some spacers?

Those are indeed 325ix rims and you will need to run spacers to run them on a non-ix 4-lug model.

Thats cool just as long as i can use them. 15 mm spacers?
Also im running m3 CAB so would that change the spacer size in the front?

I can see them now. They don�t look THAT bad to me. Maybe I have low standards:(....
Of course they will consume easily two or three days of work worth of your time, but they�ll look really good in the end. What kind of paint will you be using? Any particular color?
Why would you be baking them in the grill, is just beyond me. I know that it helps a lot with the settling, curing of the paint or whatever that process it�s called, as ramblin man properly explained. But if it was my grill, people would turn their heads as I drove by wondering where the BBQ is. And I definitely don�t want my BBQ to taste like paint or any chemicals for that matter. Maybe you guys have two grills, one for food, one for...rims. I have only one and it�s for food only.

They are in ok shape i guess. As far as the color i guess i will be using silver wheel paint from pep boys or wherever i can find it. I only have one grill so i don't think that part will be happening but i'm sure it makes a difference.

As long as they are careful and mount and dismount the tire from the back side of the rim you should be ok. just make sure they have some kind of plastic spacer between the rim and the "table"

Well, Jorge, good luck, I�m glad you picked those up for a good price. Please keep us posted as you progress with your project. Did you get centercaps with them?
