Anyone know if the plastic sill covers that hold the door weather strip down will just pop up without breaking the mounting clips or will those break.

If they are for sure goners, does anyone know which size they take?

In theory, you can pop them off without breaking the mounting clips, but I've had hit-or-miss luck with that. I keep a collection of new ones on hand, they are (I believe) 51471840960.

From my experience I'd estimate 80-20 in favor of the rails on the bottom side of the plastic sill cover cracking before the white mounting clips would.

What's worked best for me is to get either end of the rail free of its mounting clip, then slide the rail off. A set of nipper pliers works great in grasping any clips still stuck in the sill.

If you're near a salvage yard, it's a great place to practice and pick up the spare parts you need.

I like the slide method too, if you have the clearance and other trim removed that allows.

How do you install them after you have broken them and purchase/acquire new ones?

Just put the new clips on the sill piece, line them up with the holes in the sheetmetal, and push hard. Just make sure you are putting them back on the correct sides and you'll be fine.
