I've been trying to hammer out what color BMW floor mats to buy, and I can't seem to get anywhere. My exterior color code is 244(Sterlingsilber Metallic), interior is bluish gray? I pulled the back seat yesterday and wrote down the following details:

Prices listed on realoem.com are outdated. I did a search on pelicanparts.com for a black set of mats (just an example) and they wanted $135.

I ordered charcoal colored fabric from bavauto:

It matches pretty well in person, the photo is a little washed out from the flash.

Unfortunately the RealOEM parts listed don't show any actual color, so I have no idea which is correct. It narrows it down to seven colors, but half of them seem like they could work(black, anthracite, silver, indigo). I was trying to find a definitive answer as to what the stock color was.

I bought my 91 318i brand new, and it didn't come with floor mats. I have gray door panels, gray carpet (schiefer [slate in German]), and had gray cloth seats (since swapped for black leatherette). I reused some BMW gray rubber mats that came from a Euro 84 318i.

If you want some more detailed information on your option codes, sign up on bimmmerforums.com, enable private messaging and/or e-mail contact, and locate a VIN decode thread in the 3-series E30 forum. Follow the instructions in the first post in the VIN decode thread. The eventual reply will be a fun read, and perhaps you'll get the answer to your mats question.

With the other two BMWs in the family stable, I've seen tan mats on tan carpet, and black mats on gray carpet. Happy hunting.
