The only stupid question-is the question that isn't asked.  If you are standing in the front of your engine bay-the individual blades must pull the air through the radiator, so looking at the fan, the blades as placed in position from right to left(meaning) as the fan starts to pull the air from the rightside of the blade and it ends with the leftside of the blade------------------right is the front & left is the rear of the same blade.  If I have confused you my apologies, go to this site and look at the 5th picture.  Belt Replacement Instructions (Incl. Fan Removal)

When properly mounted, the part number on the fan shows on the engine side as opposed to the fan shroud/radiator side.

:p o yeh im still working on that.  i haven't located a volvo fan yet.  its strange how i can't find any volvos at the pnp by me.  it sucks.  i've resorted to looking on ebay for one, which everyone and their dog wants too much for them.
anyways was looking at the fan that is attached on the clutch fan and thought it might be pushing air into the radiator as opposed to pulling

anyone know of a working affordable volvo fan?

i scored my Volvo fan for $50 from a junkyard in MD, i had to cut alot of the shroud with a hacksaw, but it works beautifully.

And as far as which direction the mechanical fan goes, the blades have curvature to them, put the concave side towards the engine.  This means the edges of the blades will curve towards the engine, and away from the radiator.  Know what i mean?
