E30 Radio Code
« on: August 18, 2009, 03:40:06 AM »
I've just finished restauring my US spec 318IS but now I've noticed that I haven't got the code for the original radio and can't make it work.

I've tryed asking BMW (here in Portugal) who supposely asked Germany for the code but they didn't had any information on this radio (maybe because it's a US Spec car). What is odd on this radio is the fact that there is absolutely no information on who supplies it (Blaupunk, Phillips, etc.) and no model (Bavaria, Casablanca, etc.). Just 'BMW'!

Can any of you guys help me out here? I know some people have access to code generator programs...

Here are the details:
Radio part n. 88 88 1 600 175
Radio Serial n. F90657944C

Thanks!

Regards, Bruno.

Thanks! ...But $25 just looks a bit over-priced?!?!

Before I have to get my wallet out, does anybody else have any other suggestion?

I'd call BMW NA and tell them about it.  Supply them with a VIN and they should be helpful...  I've heard they're slow but usually OK with stuff like this.  They can cut you a new key while you're at it.

IIRC that's a Clarion or Pioneer head unit.  Let me check mine for a matching number.

LOL, none of my three have a number at all, just the serial number of the manufacturer.

I picked up a nice Blaupunkt CD/USB/MP3/Bluetooth recently that matches the interior very nicely.  With a few 4 ohm speakers it's really nice.  Total cost was about $120 for a refurb head unit...but you could find a nice one for less than $80 if you look.
