Cleaning the Vert top rear "glass"

Anyone have any good methods or products to clear up the plastic Vert top rear plastic "glass"?

Working my way to a DIY for cleaning/clearing the plastic so I thought I put this question out.

BTW, is it just me or when you do a search in the search tool, you really don't get a good match up to what you may of asked.  I searching for this topic, I came up with everything but this topic.  :rolleyes:

Anyway, thanks for any tips or links on this topic...  :cool:

I did this before I departed Germany for Iraq--so here we go, 1st get some googone and place it on both sides of the plastic, making sure it's rubbed in thoroughly by hand or cloth.  2nd if the weather is nice and hot(good)you wouldn't need to use a heat gun to activate the cleaning chemicals in googone, place the car in the sun for about two hours with the windows up and let the chemicals do the job.  3rd after the two hours are up, then get a bucket of hot soapy water(liguid detergent)and a *rag* using the rag and LD as a suction to clean and wipe up the googone.  4th soon after the googone has been removed by the soap and water SHOWER! both sides of the plastic with windex--but don't let it sit for to long.  for example: I showered the outside(windex all over the damn window) Then I showered the inside(by the time I completed the inside shower--it's time to wipe the outside.

My back window was looking pretty tired when I bought my car. I was going to replace it but thought I would clean it up first to see what happened. I used McGuires Mirror Glaze a product specific for this job. Took me a good hour + of polishing. Two years later and I have no intentions of replacing the window.

Go to your nearest Motocycle shop.  Ask the person at the shop for the product used to "clear" the plexiglass Motorcycle windshields. It comes in an aerosol can.  I forget the name of it, however, there are multiple brands and this stuff really works good.  I've used it in the past on a prior Jeep Wrangler that I owned, which had the soft top (ie: 3 plastic windows) and it cleared those up extremely well.

Spray it on, use a microfiber towel, rub in and buff out.

Plexus?  I use that on my boat's canvas plastic windows.  I'll give that a go.  

I did clean the back "glass" then used Plastix on a power ball and it cleaned up quite a bit, I'd say I'm halfway there back to clear, what's remaining are the wear crease marks from where the top folds.  Basically lotsa fine scratches.  Some of them polished out with the powerball.  I suspect it's just keeping at it to get more results, however, I believe it will only get to a clean quality, not necessarily a scratch free quality.  

I can now make out cars in the back window, just not detail.  Anyone successful in polishing out scratches?   :cool:

BMW even has a fantastic product made exactly for this, the dealer might even have some for a Z3 (same stuff) sitting around, of course its logo drives up the price, but it would work rather well I would guess.

I read that Windex is not recommended for the plastic window. All the other products listed will work well. ScratchX will remove some scratches, but not all.
