Haven´t checked this in a while :o

My car has no catalytic converter from the factory. It was imported to Spain from Germany before the IS was officially available.
After installing the chip i started up the car...it would run very roughly for a few seconds and die. I tried this a few times and fearing doing damage to the car i just took the chip out and put it away.
I may just end up selling the chip and put money into improving other areas of the car.

maybe it helps if you disconnect the black plug

Is there any danger to doing this if the car has no O2 sensor ?

I ordered the 91 octane chip, but the US spec chip wouldn't work in my '89Euro 318is. The DME part number for both markets is the same, but the PROM numbers are different regarding vehicles with or without the cat/O2 sensor.

I'd recommend you pull the DME cover off and check the part number of your PROM. The US Spec eprom # is 1.267.356.378 and MarkD's chip will work. The Euro eprom # is 1.267.356.214 and unless Mark is marketing a euro chip with that part number, you'll have to look elsewhere.

I had on my car 1.267.357.167. The car has both catalytic converter and lambda sensor (euro spec). Now I have a ProFormance chip from ebay and I'm very pleased with it. ECU number is ......950.

Just to bring this thread back from the dead, hehehe.

Today out of sheer curiosity i decided to open up an ECU i had picked up from the junk yard last year.  Low and behold!!  the PROM is labeled 1.267.356.378
I´m going to dig out that MarkD 93 octane chip and see if it works with this ECU.
