Hi there guys just a quick question...

I normally use

Castrol Magnatec 15W-40 Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil meets ACEA A3/B3

garages are telling me now to use

Castrol GTX 15w-40 High Mileage for engines over 75,000 miles

my car has 165k on the clock all genuine.

Im a little confused guys all help will be much appreciated

I use synthetics too, in the engine, transmission and differential.  Your mechanic is probably seeing a lot of little oil leaks...GTX will minimize these.  The synthetic oils will ooze more as they're thinner.  I just ignore the leaks & run Mobil1 5w30.

Shell rotella synthetic 5w40. It's cheaper than some non synthetics.

That's what we run in the race car.  Not sure it's really necessary for street cars, but do what you like.
