Hey,

It would appear that the 318is I have just bought came with one of these kits.... BUT its kind of odd how its put in. Correct me if I am wrong, but the plate is supposed to bolt down....correct? Mine just has the plate just chilling out and the only thing holding the coils in place are the coils themselves. Is there a spacer that goes underneath the plate or something? Also, what length bolts are needed to mount the coils? Mine has two different sizes... Two are way long and actually lift the plate off the motor by contacting the valve cover.

I am trying to figure out my bad idle and I am thinking that this probably has something to do with it.

Hard to say what you have there. Our kit is very popular but there are other folks over the last few years who have built small batches of these kits and sold them in group buy format.

My guess is that you don't have one of our kits. Our kits ship with a complete hardware kit which is uniform and high grade hardware.

Well, I am really thinking its the same thing... BUT the guy must have cobbled it together. I have found several missing bolts on the car so it wouldn't surprise me. I just need to know if the plate is supposed to be bolted down or if it just floats in there.

In our kit the plate is held in place with 2 M6 studs and other hardware. The studs hold the plate in place.

Very pleased with this setup. very clean and professionally made. Hardware is nice and the install was clean and simple.

Just need to wrap up the wires and route them how i want them and it is all complete.

side note:
ever since i have had this car, i have always had a hiccup at idle. i have been through a new head and injectors etc. and nothing fixed this problem. after installing this COP kit, it is gone and never to return :-)

I installed my kit today - will take a pic and post it. I'm not 100% happy with my wire routing yet but I will play with that more when I get some time.

I am very pleased with everything about this kit - quality and fit are excellent and the instructions are clear and simple.

I think any gains or improvement in my case came more from replacing 193k mile coil packs and original wires with the new COP coils and also installing new plugs. The car definitely runs smoother and has better throttle response.

Here are the pictures. I am not done with the wire routing. anyone have any good way of making a clean wrapping of wiring without shrink tube? i dont want to de pin the connector just to slide on shrink tubing?

My 1993 E36 318is. Plug and play accept the wire rerouting, but it is working for now, just needs beautifying.
