Here's my 93 e36 318i. Picked this car up about 4 months ago for $800. Thing was nasty dirty when I got it but after my little bro and I took the interior completely apart I had a super sterile interior and a great start.

Car was completely stock when I bought it. One headlight, one taillight and fog light didn't work and one of the grilles was missing so I replaced everything with new aftermarket parts.

The care came with some fantastic 15 inch wheels and equally cool hubcaps. I first swapped em out for some e36 gen M3 16s which made a big difference but then came across a deal I couldnt pass up and now the car is sportin some 18 x 9.5s in the rear and 18 x 8's up front all wrapped with Nitto z-rated rubber.

A couple weeks after I bought the car it shot a spark plug as a result of it being incorrectly installed. Gave me the opportunity to replace the plugs, wires, belts, fluids, and ended up upgrading my exhaust to DTM and installed a cold air intake.

On the interior I installed some white face gauges, a gauge pod with 2 additional white face gauges and threw in a new stereo.

Future plans are to install the BavAuto suspension, complete slotted and drilled disc brake kit and front wheel bearing I have sitting in my living room.

Very Nice. Hey just a friendly note. On the Bav Auto web site look for a product called Forever Black. This product is to replenish the lower plastic molding keeping it black. Hence the name Forever Black. I personally use it on my 91 318is. Looks good.

Thanks for the heads up. Thought about hitting it with some truck bed liner but couldn't bring myself to do it. Glad there is a product made for it. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

Thanks. I put some thought into it prior to purchase so everything would match. I'm happy with how it turned out.

I originally bought the wrong pod so I have one just like mine but designed for your car sitting on the shelf new in the box. If interested let me know... I'm sure we could work something out.

Kinda. My car has higher mileage... zoning in on 210,000 so I got a second m42 motor that I can prepare while the current motor tires out... may be awhile though... thing is bullet proof. I'm yet to do anything to the new motor but intend to send it out to a local performance shop and have it rebuilt to reliably withstand a supercharger and possibly nitrous.

I'm trying to find a tranny to rebuild as well so I can replace everything in one shot. ALso like to bring the diff up to speed so it can handle the additional power. At that point I think I might take it to the track and see how she does.

Outside of that I plan to install some new seats and reupholster some interior pieces to give it a more cohesive feel. Clean up the black body panels with some "forever black" and enjoy the experience.

I was so happy to have found an m42 specific forum. Glad to be amongst family

i can't seem to part from the engine... i have had other BMW's but i just
love the M42 so it's real nice to be on this forum surrounded by other
people that have just as much love for it

nice to see another e36 m42 on here welcome!

my advice would be to change the 1 piece headlights they just dont look right and dont fit right and maybe lose the chrome while your at it not only dosent not look good on e36s in general but it dosent flow well with your white and black theme.

Also look into having the bumpers and sideskirts and mirrors color matched looks cleaner unless you want it to look like that (white and black theme).

please dont be insulted about the headlights for i too once ran chrome ones so just giving advice from experience. overall impressive for $800!!!!

oh and paint your needles red or buy m3 ones so that they match the pod gauges and they will be easier to see!

before the use of Forever Black on the bumper, make sure you take some fine grit sand paper, lightly sand it a few times to get rid of any surface damage. The sanding will allow the paint to stick to the surface better, thus giving a smoother look. It's looking good.

Nice find for $800.

I agree, change the headlights, forever black the bumpers and sideskirts, lower it, and it'll be a nice car to have alot of fun in.

I'm not personally a fan of white gauges on anything, but that is just me.

Good to see another E36 M42 owner on here as well!
