My statement regarding being an enthusiast for many years.. may be a slight exageration. I got into bimmers about 5 years ago - when I was 13. I bought my first one when I was 14; we drive young out in the country.

So my being a female here does make me a minority.. but I think I'm close to the average age on these forums.

me too...turned 37 a few months ago. Anyone here know what a rotary phone is? How about a BetaMax? Anyone remember ALF? How about this one...anyone know what an 8-track is?

Welcome to m42 world. THat coor looks really potent for a nice cruiser. You can get an iS lip along with the moulding and when you get some wheels and drop it - it would be awesome looking. If you want to go with an i lip I think I have one in my parts stash but pricing after shipping might not be too convenient :p

I have a turntable and a couple of hundred LP's and 45's but the turntable arm broke during my last move. I have the original soundtracks to Grease, Star Wars and Xanadu as well as some Beatles, Monkees, Billy Joel, Blondie and a bunch of other stuff.

The forums are definately a late teen early twenty something world. I'm 62 so I should mumble some platitudes about age being.... stop me please. Anyone remember when:
1) you couldn't buy lowering springs, Bilsteins or any of that stuff
2) making a floor shift by cutting down a '49-'51 Ford column linkage
3) the only slicks were recaps
4) the Lotus ran Indy in 1965
5) Mickey Thompson showing up at Indy with wide tires
6) Smokey Yunicks 7/8th's scale NASCAR sedan
7) the showdown at the national drags between the Willys coupes of George Montgomery and Stone, Woods, and Cook in A-Gas Supercharged

seeing Junior Johnson race at Darlington in a 1961 Chevy 409 when you were 17 years old
9) living to see Senna, Prost, and Mansell on the track at the same time
Ah, to be old again.
I understand completely about putiing that car back together after the repaint. Mine took three months and I couldn't stop buying new stuff to go with the new paint. I've always loved European bumpers except the part about hitting stuff.

Bad news update:
I knew that a timing chain guide rail had broken in the car.. but based on what I could see, I thought that all the damage that was going to be done, had been done.
Yesterday, I was on my way to my parents with my new timing chain, new guide rails, gaskets etc. I got about 3/4s of the way there.. and the motor died (no compression). After a little further investigation.. it seems that there was just enough slack in the chain, that it slipped a few links.. and most likely bent valves. I was on the highway going ~65mph, so there could be piston damage as well. I'll try to post when I have the engine apart with some more info. It will be a while before I have it back on the road now I'm sure.

sounds like a good time, however, to do a bore job and slide some S50 pistons in there! (trying to look at the bright side of all this...)
