Hello all,
My name is Rachel; I've been a bimmer enthusiast for many years.
I am the proud new owner of a 92 318 cabrio. I began driving in an 84 318, and bought a euro e21 323 for kicks - but this m42 stuff is all new to me!

The cabrio needs a LOT of attention - and I know I'll run into a lot of questions, so I'm glad you guys are here. I know you're gonna hate me, but I don't have any pictures of my latest purchase to show you yet. For now, you'll have to be happy just knowing that it is laguna green with a tan interior - all stock for now.
See ya around!

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. You should take pics of your car stock anyway so that we can all admire your progress.

As promised - here are pics for ya.

My sweety has front and rear bumpers for me that he's currently painting. After I get those on..i've got some mechanical things to take care of and soon to follow that will be shocks and springs. Questions and comments welcome.

Nice, keep us updated on the progress.

Any plans in the wheel department?

Nothing specific in mind yet. I'd definitely like to do a little larger and ditch the bottlecaps, but it will be waaay down the road.

[hypnotic voice]You need to sell me your seats[/hypnotic voice]

hey, car looks great! some unsolicited advice:
(feel free to disregard)

- considered euro bumper trim? I think it really cleans up the look of the car;
- euro smiley ellipsoidal headlights
- some kind of a valence lip
- debadge!
- remove the pinstripes
- paint your grilles (SEM trim paint) or, euro grilles!

and then, naturally, change over to a black interior... and sell me your seats!

if sweety really cares... he'll put a new dash in for you too ...actually, it's a really easy job in a cabby.

congrats and again, welcome!

Sorta reminds me of my cabrio when I first got it (not including the bumpers and dashboard).  I've done quite a bit to mine but have lots more planned.  Welcome to the club!

Are there any other women on this site? Rare in the forums. I like the M42club because it is civil and cooperative.
Bimmerlover says it all.
I had to replace the front bumper on mine when I left the car out of gear and did not apply the emergency brake. It rolled into a concrete base of a light pole in the middle of a parking lot. I was in pajamas and house slippers, had not had my coffee yet, and it was 7:00 AM on Sunday morning. I was using a cash machine and turned around to leave and my car was gone! Then I saw it about 50 yards away.
That countryside in your pictures reminds of southeastern Ohio where I grew up. Appalachia to those who know geography, hillbilly to those that don't.

Are you also in that other minority on the forums - people of a certain age?

Sorry for getting off topic, but I have to replace the bumper trim on my cabrio for a similar reason.  My father in law, the car's P.O. forgot to set the e-brake and the car rolled back and kissed the garage door, leaving a couple of dimples in the plastic trim.  While not terribly noticable, it prevents the trim from sitting perfectly flush agaist the bumber on one side.  Planning on eventually swapping all of it for euro trim and a 'BMW' filler plate on the front.

I took those pictures in my parents driveway. They live in a real pretty little town in the foothills of the blueridge mountains in central VA. It's a great place to visit.

My statement regarding being an enthusiast for many years.. may be a slight exageration. I got into bimmers about 5 years ago - when I was 13. I bought my first one when I was 14; we drive young out in the country.

So my being a female here does make me a minority.. but I think I'm close to the average age on these forums.
