White smoke but not overheating?

Hey guys I have a m42 e36 318is and the car idles roughly and begins to discharge  a small amount of white smoke once warmed up (smoke increases with revs) and the check engine light is on. The car does not overheat. I have cleaned the ICV and made sure there are no vacuum leaks, also replaced all serviceable fluids and filters including plugs and leads. I am starting to think I may have a crack in the head? If one of you fellas can give me a hand with a few suggestions that would be highly appreciated. Serge.

I'd be tempted to do a compression test.  If there are leaks from the engine into the coolant it'd likely be leaking, certainly it'd be slowly loosing coolant.

Get the codes to see what's setting that check engine light.  Ever do a stomp test?
