problem with coolant line under intake manifold
« on: May 26, 2009, 04:58:21 PM »
Sorry if i am using the wrong terms, i'm not so mechanically inclined! So today i was removing my intake manifold to clean it up. As i got to the throttle body spacer, there is a hose that connect it to the engine block. there is a little spout that comes out of the block so you can connect the hose that goes to the throttle body spacer. Well that little spout broke off due to corrosion. Maybe you can see what i'm talking about on this diagram, it's is not number 12 but it's where the number is. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AF93&mospid=47305&btnr=11_1272&hg=11&fg=35

So anybody know how to fix it?
i think i need to drill in a new piece with a spout or...?..please help

Ok so I figured out a way to fix this. It was a nipple(from the head) that circulated coolant from the head to the throttle body. The piece was casted and part of the head. Therefore, I could not just drill out the old piece and find a new part. SO I had to find a piece that looked like this http://www.brasspartsindia.com/brass-hose-barb/brass-hose-barb/brass-hose-barb/brass-hose-barb.psd.jpg I then tapped the hole where the old piece broke off with thread and screwed that new brass piece in.

That a pipe coming out of the cylinder head not the block. Just stick a bolt in it and block it off. Its not necessary. See the thread in my signature.
Sold but not forgotten
