swap engines?
« on: May 23, 2009, 02:57:05 PM »
I know there´s a lot of guys out there who have swapped in M50's, S50's (some guys have all the luck), S14's, whatever. Obviously those are the most popular choices. Now, are those the only ones? What are the issues fitting other, maybe newer bmw´s motors in E30's engine bays? size? harnesses, sensors, ecu, electric issues? transmission?
I mean, there's a host of options out there, makes me wonder why some go unexplored.
just asking, since I haven't seen any threads related to this. If there is any, please forgive me (and post a link!)

I can see no benefit to upgrade to an s14. Get itb's and a stroker kit and you're in s14 territory with the m42.

We need to do some research on that little 2.0 diesel M47...161 hp and 251 ft·lbf according to Wikipedia. Wonder how heavy it is?  More importantly, how rpm-happy is it?
