going to be doing an M44 swap soon
« on: April 28, 2009, 02:31:45 PM »
just bought a 91is for 200 with a blown motor.  i know that ill need the current m42 pan, manifolds (going to go with the M42 wiring) and i guess one of the pulleys from the M42.

now my question is with the cam sensor... i have both the new and old style sensors at my work right now and i see that they both use the same type connector on them.  now why cant the M44 sensor be used with the M42 wiring/DME??  they should be sending the same info to the DME.  only thing i can think of is that they use a different frequency range than the older styles and the DME doesnt recognize it.

but in any case in the next few days ill have pics of the M42/M44 cam sprocket, cam sensor and upper timing case to compare.  and ill try and document the whole swap with pictures for anyone in the future who wants to look it up later (since i couldnt really find anything)
