How about:

Grand Prix

with a young James Garner driving the first ever Honda Formula 1 cars set in 1960's F1.

+1 big time on LeMans.  The first few minutes with the ticking clock and still shots are some of the best motorsport cinema of all time.

Cool. can't wait to see the pics. Alaska is treating me well. Its in the 60's by day and 40's at night here in Anchorage. I saw my first moose today. They are a ugly fucking animal. Very dosile too. I would like to show you the photo's but my dumb ass left the attachment chord down in Daytona. I am gonna have to find a replacment. Anywayst the salmon will be running soon, thats a big deal up here as well. Other than that I hope everything is doing well with you. Out.

Hey by the way. Thank you for placing flags on my fallen comrades. I don't know if I told you but I am a 9 year veteran with the Army. 6 active 3 with the Guard in Florida. I truly believe there is little real, heartfelt, patriotism left in the U.S. God Bless America.

I am kind of in the same boat that you are, i had surgery on Monday and will be stuck at home for a while... but to the point, you should watch the Apocalypse Now directors cut, it is about an hour longer than the original and i actually understood it, unlike the original.

RED IS 91 I am living off of Spenard, I know where 4th st is, haven't been down yet. I plan to go to Kenai this weekend for the Salmon run. Man I lucked out getting up here when I did. Everyone before me had to endure the cold. Is it full of bars and such?

Good luck with the treatment, sorry to hear about your condition.  I'd second many of these films, here's a few more:

The classics:
Casablanca, African Queen, Lawrence of Arabia, Harvey
Man in the Grey Flannel Suit, Rear Window, Vertigo
Comedy:
Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, Pink Panther series
Black Comedy:
Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, Kind Hearts and Coronets
Action:
The Professional, Run Lola Run, The Fifth Element
War:
The Longest Day, A Bridge Too Far, Paths to Glory, Mr. Roberts, Patton, Battle of Britain
Underrated:
Little Miss Sunshine, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Red Rock West

Definitely No Country for Old Men and HBO's Rome too - both were awesome.  I added Rome to my Netflix queue.  Maybe the new Battlestar Galactica?

Yea ,there used to be alot of bars but I haven't been up there in over 20 years so I imagine it changed . Used to be a place call the Great Alaskan Bush Company .It was a gentlemens club (code for strip club) and there were the most beautiful girls there . Another is Wild Cherrys .
Good luck with the fishing.

I liked "We Were Soldiers," and "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson. Two things I saw in Washington, D.C. I will never forget are the Holocaust Museum, and the room in the American History Museum filled with the things left at the Viet Nam wall. Both will break your heart. Thank a veteran for your freedom, boys. America is changing, and not for the better. Do not forget the men and women who defended your freedom. Who continue to defend your freedom.
Other movies?
See "Contempt" with Brigitte Bardot. Anything with Bardot from the late 50s. That woman---oh boy. Try "Ocean's 11," the original with Sinatra and Dino. Not sure your age, but "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" is funny as hell. "The Godfather" series is good but hey, these are on TV all the time. For a change of pace, see "Once Upon a Time in America." Get the Sergio Leoni version too. Good story. Leoni also did "Once Upon a Time in the West" with Henry Fonda. Fonda plays the bad guy. Good movie. I like the Bronson "Death Wish" movies. Campy, but good stories. "Jeremiah Johnson " was good. If you like newer movies, try "Fight Club," "Schlinder's List," "21 Grams," "7 pounds" and "V is for Vendetta."
I pray you get lucky, my friend. Many people do. No reason why you can't be on the "lucky" list.

dude, hang in there.

i was in the same spot as you, with neck cancer. first i had surgery, than chemo with radiation, and of course the dreaded mask! the mask was probably the most stressful.

it was one year ago, april 22th that i had my last treatment and have been clean since. did a cat scan yesterday and as my doctor put it "everything looks excellent".

i will not lie to you, things are going to get bad and will take about six months total before you fell almost normal. but hang in there, at one year past it all seems like a it was just a bad dream.

send me a email or private message, i can call you if you fell you need someone to talk to.

Hey Tom and all of you guys!

Thanks so damn much.  It is getting worse and I know there is hell around the corner.  Sometimes you think the "cure" is designed to kill the host. At the moment I am sitting in the "chemo bar" getting carboplatin and the nausea is kicking in. My throat and tongue are f-ed so eating is more like force feeding.

They say if I lose 10% of my body weight they will place a feed tube. F that! When I weight in weekly, I stuff a 5lb weight in my pocket.  Next time I will use 7.5lbs.  I can manage the weight fluctuations.  Not a big fan of too much invasive tech.

I got a script for marinol but want to confirm the the FAA that it will not count againist me on my medical.

I will pm. Thanks so much for all of you.  You got to know how much this helps.
