Author Topic: issue with my brakes (Read 2988 times)

so here lately, my brakes have been real spongey,
so friday i bled the lines, and the right rear line had LOTS of air in it,
after i did that, i test drove it, i was like DAMN, this thing stops like a BMW shoud!

but now, sunday, there spongey again.

any idea how i keep getting air in my lines, with out me opening the system?

and how can i fix this problem?

The first thing to do is look for leaks. Any sign of brake fluid means that air can probably leak in. If you see brake fluid, that's the first place to investigate.

i've checked for brake fluid at the calipers, didn't find any.

and my brake fluid level hasn't dropped any so...idk i'm kinda stumped.

buy a new car...

make sure there isn't a leak in the grommet between the reservoir and the master cylinder, also check your break lines and make sure they haven't started to bulge out at the crimp fittings

i have actually been looking around for a mini S with a decent price and low miles for a while now to DD.

but, i dont see how a leak at the maser cylinder could cause tons or air in the right rear line, but i'll check.

update*

no leaking from the master cylinder, and only the right rear keeps getting air in it. Fluid only gets low after bleeding the brakes, it rises to top again after driving, air keeps getting in line i assume?

i think it may be a bad caliper, maybe a seal thats letting air in slowly, but no fluid out?

Is it possible that the leak is hidden in the line somewhere back to that wheel?

i think i may just replace all the lines with a SS/teflon kit from bavauto.
