Intermittent power loss...
« on: April 17, 2009, 07:32:15 AM »
...is the best way I can describe the problem. I lose power for short bursts in very low RPM's and then around 3k-4500 it thins out almost like its getting 1/2 the gas it needs, only thing is I've replaced...AFM, Fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs(bosch plat +2), wires, battery, and regular routine maint. stuff like oil, filter, air cleaner, and I've ran a fuel system cleaner. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

Ideas: Coils, throttle position sensor, or crank position sensor

THANKS!!!!

Have you checked for vacuum leaks (cracks on hoses)?
Idle control is clear of gunk?
Does it misfire?
Is the accelerator cable good i.e. not catching or twisted etc...

I presume you've changed the fuel filter too seen that you ran cleaner through it.

It could be a crank position sensor but a timing light would be the best bet to check this.

Hope this helps!

My bet is that your crank sensor is going.  Do you know how to see if you are getting any codes from the ECU?  See if it is giving you a cam sensor code.  If it is than you need to suspect both the cam and crank sensors as it only gives the one code for both.  It sounds as if the ECU is going into protection mode without the proper signal from the sensor.
