hey guys,
tons of you all know me from e30tech or strictlyea.com.   hell,  probably all of you know me from somewhere that has to do with e30s.  i am a mod on strictlyea.com,  a member from e30tech from way back in the days,  i remember when e30tech had 10 or 12 members and i thought it was going to die a slow death.  i believe i am a member of revlimited but i don't think i have a single post on that site,  it never felt like home.  i am on bimmerforums but mostly in the e21 section.  i used to get on the robert bentley home page and help people who had e30 problems but i have given up almost all my online related dealings other then minor posting and researching.

lets see,  where to start.....  i have owned e30s since 2001.  my first e30 was a 1300 dollar 325e four door with five speed.  it had 89k miles on it when i bought it and 190k when i sold it a bit over a year later.  greatest car ever and selling it led me on a long search to find another exactly like it.  the second e30 was a beautiful black 86 325e with automatic tranny.  to boring but it was nice looking so i kept it a bit.  while i owned this i bought my wife an 89 325i four door five speed that led me into the world of autocross and modding that i never thought i would ever do.  i had this car for years and years.  it outlasted the 86 325e, an 84 325e with s options, an 84 318i, an 88 735i with 5 speed, an 86 528e and would still be here except that fact i built it so much for racing that it was not comfortable to daily drive anymore.  i sold it and an hour later regretted it.  i had the 82 320i (e21) at this time and started modding it but it didn't feel the same.  it is fun and i still own it but it doesn't make me turn and look back at it while i am walking away from it like the timeless e30 chassis does.

last weekend (end of march 09 for future reference)  my wife and i took a leisurely cruise up to san antonio and bought a black 1991 318i four door with five speed and mtech2 body kit.  i found it on craigslist and watched it for weeks before contacting the guy and as soon as i sat in it,  i knew it was leaving with me.  i guess my wife knew also because she didn't put up a fight like she normally does.  lucky for her because she would've been mad.  it made the 2.5 hour 150 mile drive home easily and only has one weird issue that i have already figured out how to handle when it happens until i figure out how to fix it.

i will post some pics of the 91 and then some links to my photobucket account so you guys can see pictures of all the other e30s and stuff as they progressed from totally stock to how i thought they should look.

these pictures are from the parking lot at lackland airforce base when we were getting ready to head home

the seats need recovering and some other minor things and then the car will be wonderful.

here is my e21.  its in progress and blew the headgasket so i am trying to get off my butt and swap in one of the other motors i have in the shed.  having a gravel driveway makes it hard to get motivated to swap motors but i will do it here someday.

the day i brought it home

a fairly recent picture

group picture (my 89,  82, and 84)

there is the 86 way in the back and the 85 td that a buddy owned

the 84 318i after i did some work

here is the link to the albums so you guys can peruse it on your own.  i have pictures of obc swaps,  cluster swaps, head swaps and timing belt changes,  write up pictures for installing an aftermarket head unit in to a premium stereo e30, pics on installing coil overs, different wheels, the accessories pamphlet for e30s.  you never know what you will find.  if you want to find the write ups,  a few are stickies on e30tech.  you can also just search my username,  superj.  its my username on all the e30 and bimmer related sites.

i guess i should tell you guys about me too.  i am an aviation engine inspector for turbine engines.  i have two associates in aviation technology,  one in aviation airframes and one in aviation powerplants.  i am very very mechanically inclined but not so computer literate so i have built a megasquirt2 system and wired it into my 89 325i but couldn't figure out the programming part and took it all out and got rid of it.

my wife is herIS on e30tech, strictlyea, bimmerforums, and revlimited.  she is a mechanic helper on fuel control systems for the t-700 turbine engine used in tons of airplanes and helicopters.  she is usually the one who finds me all my rare parts that i have now or have had in the past.  she got my mtech2 steering wheel for 75 bucks shipped,  got my bmw edition momo wheel in my e21, and bought my coil over kit for me.  she is really really great and gets the best deals (front and rear e30 m3 seats for 50 bucks for me once)

we have two young boys who are very smart and super athletic.  one is five and one is nine.

if you guys want to know anything else,  ask.
