That lower rad hose will go to the M20 expansion tank. It's on the lower side of the tank to help with bleeding a bit and gives hot coolant a place to go.

I picked up the M20 mount and expansion tank, however I have a question: how are you guys mounting the expansion tank? On the M20 car I pulled it from, there is a bracket welded to the wheel well and another "nub" that a plastic mount screws onto, however, my car has neither of these, as there was never anything intended to be in that spot.

Also, probably a stupid question, but where does the smaller of the two hoses running off the cap of the expansion tank go? I can tell that one goes to the radiator, but there is a smaller one that was disconnected on all the cars I saw at the junk yard, and I'm not sure where this one will be going.

The smaller hose just vents the overflow to the ground.

I found a random screw roughly the same size as the one on the m20 cars and screwed it in from the fender well. Then just mounted the plastic mount onto that. As for the metal bracket- did not use it. The snap plastic bracket seemed to hold it snug enough. Good luck!

What are you guys doing for a fan and shroud?

What size and length tubing are you using to and from the expansion tank?

What part number is the expansion tank? How are you mounting it?

Are the radiator mounts completely stock?

What mishimoto radiator are you going with?

You should be able to find the part numbers on realoem.com/bmw/select.do or bmwfans.info

There's only one radiator mount that needs to be replaced and yes it is a factory part that can be ordered.

Is it a factory mount from the E30 325? E36? Is the Mishimoto the M3 version? The E30 325 version? The E36 325 version?

1. The driver's side lower radiator bracket is too long and will not allow the e36 radiator to drop in. The solution is getting the corresponding bracket from a LATER e30 325 from the junkyard.

if your going through all the trouble of working in the new radiator, why not eliminate the fan clutch to?

Didn't have everything I needed to install an electric fan yet and it wasn't a priority. The radiator definitely needed to be changed.

I think i'm gonna order the mishimoto for the e36 m3 and do a volvo 940 fan at the same time...

Any ideas on some silicone Rad hoses that don't cost as much as the rad??

could these work?

The Upper Radiator Hose is a NAPA #9683, cut at the end that goes to the thermostat housing. the elbow at the radiator connection just touches the air box. it fits well.

i have two smaller hoses running off the expansion tank at the cap. one that goes to the radiator at the top and one that goes to the radiator using the fan mount as a support to run off to the ground.

i am not running a coolant level sensor.

i have an 88deg wahler thermostat and will be installing the e36 rad temp switch for the auxfan that i just received today.

the switch actually hits the plastic headlight housing protector thing (passengerside), the radiator is a bit large for the switch to fit perfect. ill have to figure something out for that maybe cut a hole in the side of the shield. or just leave it as is.

im running this exact same well my radiator is from an 89 325i
