Wrecked Again...You Will Always Be In My Heart...
« on: March 22, 2009, 01:16:23 PM »
Hey guys....

Yeah its true... she's gone.

I was on break at work and it was a warm night out so I said to myself... Ill go take out my car!!!  I took an off ramp beautifully and then went along the bridge over what we call RT.9 There is a corner there and anyone who knows it knows that it is a bitch.  I took the corner at the sppedlimit and had a nice e46 325i next to me...  Thats when it happened...

All I remember was a bang... A sickening sound that went straight to my stomach and my heart ached for I knew what was to happen next...

The car slid out on me.  It felt like the handbrake was pulled and no one was letting go.  My car, made a T shape with the car next to me and I was able to look straight into the window at the horrified look on the driver's face.

I saved it though!!!  It held the line and then snapped back, while I myself knew I had to save it from spinning but sighed a mental sigh of relief in my brain.... Thats whn i saw the chainlink fence...

There is a tall curb, 6-9 in that lines both sides of the road and I figured, no problem, the front tires will hit and it will slow the car enough and I will just hit the fence.  But I was completely wrong...

Anyone know how low our oilpans are on M42 engines????

Get where I am going?

The tires hit the curb with another sickening thud and was followed by the sound of tearing, crumpling, shattering metal... The oilpan caught and tore the bottom half of the engine out. You can actually see the crank and the bottom of the pistons...

It went straight through the fence and it tore up the hood real bad...

The front left fender hit a pole holding up the fence and shot it 50-75 feet into the parking lot in front of me.

It was running beautifully even though it hed dropped all of its oil on the ground and sprayed out in a fashion reminiscent of someone's head cracking on pavement, or a waterballoon hitting the ground at an angle....

Its gone... I stood there and cried, for I knew the car was gone....

I think the differential locked up or froze up because it now works fine....

...............

I'm still kinda at a loss for words...  I'll definately have pics up because they are already on my computer...

There is some good coming out of this though...

My dad is going to help me put it back together, and it will have the X5 4.8si swap when finished...  It is going to be a track car!!!!  That made me so happy, although I will have to fund most of it, I am so happy and will lose it when it turns over again!!!

As of now I am looking for a new ride, and yes it will be European...

My best bet is an Audi A4 1.8T because they can be bought for around $5,000 and are fun to drive,

But nothing will replace the screaming of the M42 all the way up to redling with the screach of the rear tires after banging it into gear...

Like someone on this forum said a while back and has become my favorite e30 saying:

After 6500 rpm.... No one can hear you scream... >:)

I'll miss you baby, and you will always have a special place in my heart!!!

Thanks guys!!!

I'm not too sure... I know that is what I would love to do to the car and I need to do a lot more research including becoming a member of a different site...

But no. I was not hurt... No one was... I'm very lucky although it happened at such a slow speed on a flat surface there was really no way for me to get hurt...

no actually.

it needs some work, but the guy bought it off of ebay and the po had messed up the vaccum lines, he couldn't figure them out, so he thinks something more is wrong with the car...but really, all it needs is to delete the mess under the intake. and fix some leaks. i just didn't tell him that, and he's in no hurry to sell it.

it's really a nice car for anyone that would want it, i just don't have the time or money to invest into it.

No this is the same car but I had put a new front end and valence and bumper on the car.  I have a tough decision to make.  Either work my ass off and make a ton of money, or... dare I say it.... sell it....

I can not afford an s4 and I just got 1900 in total after the deduct, was taken out.  I have about 2000 right now to play with and if I sold the car, I would have around $4000...

What do you suggest.

My dad wants me in something more.... how do you say... safe....

Either all wheel drive(audi) or something with traction control.  I fought with him and he knows it has to be all wheel drive because I will shut off the traction control.... I hate it....

What should I do guys...

now danny this isn't r3v....

but you do have a point.

and to birdman, buy a cheap junker, and sell your car.

drive the cheap ride untill you have enough $$$ to buy a eta or something, learn how to drive well in any condition with something that doesn't matter, then get a nice e30 ;)

An A4 sounds like a great solution, front wheel drive will better suit your driving style. There has to be more to the story between the part of "I took the corner at the speed limit" and "All of the sudden the car was sideways and torn in half". You were either driving too fast for the limits of the road or for your counter steering abilities.

Believe me, I'm 19 and I think I am Nico Rosberg as much as the next smuck. I just learned early enough to keep the play in places where there aren't huge things to hit or no shoulder to drop a tire onto. These cars aren't particularly hard to drive fast, but the grip limit goes fast and that 4.0 turns lock to lock doesn't help with quick counter steering. Sorry for busting your chops, but you have to learn somehow. As enthusiastic as you are, you should look into some HPDE's and go have a ball where there aren't fences or e46's flying at you from all directions. This of course will have to wait until your get yourself into another car. :)
