OK I have to post some pics I know but have had my is for about two years now. A real basketcase when I found her on Craigslist just begging to be rescued.
Car was DS with tan interior, 14" basketweaves.
The last two years have been getting to stage 0 with the car.
Rust Repairs:
Replace passenger door. Big dent = lots of rust.
Replace rotted out batter tray.
Replaced rotted out driver side jacking point.
Still more I am sure, this is the rustbelt. Will keep on plugging away until finally no more appears and I can have her painted properly.
Pass NY Inspection.
All four driving lights bulbs were blown.
Horn did not work. Not proud of what I did here but it worked.
Replaced E-brake cables and shoes. (that sucked, 30 degrees outside)
Replaced liscense plate lights (yes they check, got me on my Subaru)
Suspension:
All four rotors.
All four pads.
Bled out black fluid that was once brake fluid, maybe.
Fixed front pad cable.
Bilstein sports on front and back.
New tie rods and control arms in front.
New upper mounts.
Stereo:
Added my dads old Blaupunkt system, very retro but I like it.
Added antenna, car did not have one.
So the car is in decent shape, I mean I can really push it now and see how much actual potential the suspension has. Car feels great.
Now that the car is sorted I plan to turbocharge the beast. Still have to go over the car and get all the vacuum lines sorted, check out the chain and guides and get the cooling system 100% so it may be next summer but I am doing research and getting all the parts I need. Picked up a GoodnTight manifold from someone on here so I am on my way. My one buddy turbocharged his e30 so I am getting all kinds of leftovers like a turbo and intercooler so that will make things reasonable.
Overall a great community and thankful to all who share their info. I have used this site a lot from radio wiring diagrams to learning I had to drop my pan and look for loose bolts (only 1 but pan is cracked, need to fab up a skidplate this summer).
That is all for now. Will post some pictures and such and will document my build when the time comes (hopefully soon).
Now getting ready for inspection...again.
