Hey all,
I've recently bought a brushed aluminium gauge bezel for my '95 318iS, but i can't figure out how to install it.
I'm guessing that it is an overlay, so i need to remove the clear window from the dash housing, but it seems to be pretty secure. Does anyone have any experience in this matter?

You will have to take out the entire gauge cluster to do this. Sounds like you need to get yourself a mechanical manual.

I have taken the entire cluster out before to replace the stock gauges with some plasma gauges, so that's not an issue. But the bezel that i have bought needs to go over the top of the current one, but i can't seem to remove the window to do that.
My mechanic friend told me that the window and the cluster housing are all one assembly and cannot be removed unless you cut it out. is that my only option?

the black bezel is what i need to put my new bezel over the top of. how do i get it in there?

Your mechanic friend is wrong. The plastic comes right off, and you probably have to use some double sided tape to install the rings. How did you install new gauges without removing the plastic cover? I think you should find a new mechanic or get a manual and learn to read.

Is everyone on these sites not reading what i'm saying? i need to remove the plastic window! that's all. not the housing. just the window.
The people that say i should learn to read, or that i don't know what i'm doing, learn to read yourselves.

I clearly wrote that i need to remove the plastic window from the dash housing, and just the window. I can remove the rest fine. it's the window that needs removing so i can put the bezel over the top of the stock one.

In order for me to put this on, I need to remove the clear window from the black plastic dash housing. I can take it all apart, the circuit board from the front of the dash, but then i need to remove the window, and that's what is glued in.

It's just the 2 screws on the top Jester...
kneel down by your driver side seat--put your back on the seat and look at the dash cowl that shades the top of the guage cluster from below. You will see two torx screws at approx. 10 and 2. These take a T15 torx bit. It is a tight fit and the easiest way to access them is with a torx bit socket and a small wratchet. These are the only items holding the guage cluster in. Jester, I (spoke) to the mechanic in back in Germany about this subject and I'm sorry to inform you, but you must take the whole guage cluster out, because he did mines. I thought that he just had to pop that front clear shield out, but that not the case big dawg.

Jester-if you try to remove that clear plastic(that's glued) you're gonna mess it up dude, just take your time and do it the right way--the whole guage cluster bro.
