Dbilas ITB's setup
« on: March 10, 2009, 11:19:23 PM »
does anybody here know anything about this company and the itb products it makes?

also do you have to absoluteley go standalone when going with a ITB setup, or can this be fixed with a chip etc...

i am very interested in this setup or a custom one of my own and want to know of how it needs to be tuned, if at all from the stock.  and any gains they give on this motor.

here is the website, i have a e36 m42  they show a pictures. looks great

ahh good good. i don't believe anyone here is running a dblias settup, but there are a couple people with diy itb's.

i believe the dbliase kit comes with a chip

You wouldn't be able to run itb's without some sort of tuning, be it piggy back, custom chip, or stand alone

I think either custom chip programming is needed, preferably stand alone engine management.

I suspect it is not enough just to reprogram fuel and ignition maps, you need to change acceleration enrichment. With ITB's flowing more air on small throttle openings compared to single TB, you will get flat spot due leaning mixture because stock ECU is not injecting enough fuel.

tim_s might know more since he has tuned megasquirt to work with ITB's I think?

ok thanks, i was trying to not have to go to standalone, especially not megasquirt i have had enough with that system in the past.

i will have to see if they get back to me on their chip tuning and how it works out.

i wonder what a set of cams, itb's and a chip could do?

Depends on ITB's, cams and chip of course :)

But mild cams, good chip and ITB's should give you 100 hp / liter easily so in M42 = 180 hp.

interesting. well i have not recieved a e-mail back from them. i will try to call them sometime and hopefully someone there speaks engligh :-)

i definately want cams itb's and some sort of chip/tuning to compensate for it all.  170-200  would be great for me, that would give this motor that extra little kick to make it even more exciting.  the m42 has great potential and for a 4 cyl is already a great 4 cyl.

i read their site againa nd it states that the itb kit does not come with tuning but they offer it.  and they state that they can do a tune for applications using their products. it just wonder how well it woul dbe to say ok i need a chip for m42 with these cams and itbs. i wonder if it would work well?  since it is not specifically tuned to my enegine.
