Author Topic: How many of you are using the E30 M3 offset control arm bushings? (Read 10863 times)

Just curious as to how many of you are using the E30 M3 offset control arm bushings (these are the ones in the "lollipops")...?

Based on what I have read, most E30 owners seem to upgrade to these because they are a solid bushing and supposedly allow more front wheel alignment adjustments...

Pros/cons?

Do other M3 parts need to be used in conjunction with these bushings, or are they just a plug-n-play upgrade for the E30's?

I have them. They create more caster (and therefore more camber when you turn the wheel). You don't need any other modifications to use these. I like them because the steering feels more solid. It makes sense to install these when you replace worn out control arms. In my car I use them along with E30 M3 stock springs, bilstein HDs, vert front sway bar and E36 rack.

I'm have them installed too. Put them in when I replaced my control arms and tie rods. Using Bilstein Sports, H&R Sports & E36 steering rack. With this setup, it moves the wheels further forward in the wheel well and the tires rub when turning at full lock. Don't know if this is because of the rack, the bushings, or both.

Mine rubs the plastic on the inner fender as well at full lock. It's not a big deal.

I used the z3 m-coupe control arm bushing. They are great, they don't have any offset but they are solid - so there is no change to stock camber just a rock solid in the corners.

does anyone know about the tree house racing green eyeball bushing. i have the offset ones now they were great, until they broke. so i was thinking about switching to the green eyeballs.

how come any1 here manage to kill their bushings?
i replaced mine (original from 1990) with AKG one's, and as far as i could see the originals were ok.
how can you tell that the bushing is dead?

when they crack from extreme stress and you can feel it when you have good bushing vs bad bushings in a turn. its sloppy.

I've got m3 offset ones, love them....but my plastic inner fender pieces have seen a better day

slight oversize tyres on fairly low offset rims aren't helping me either

I have stock ones in box that I bought in a rebuild package, yet I kindof want to get the M3 offset ones, they float around for like 40bucks on some places. wondering if its worth it.... input?

I think they're worth it especially if you are doing anything else to the suspension like springs and shocks. I'm sure you can unload the ones you already have to cover at least part of the cost.

i ran them on my daily/autocross 89 325i for years. loved them. every e30 i bought after that got switched to them because of hte more solid feeling on the highway at top speed i got with those versus stock. i have a set waiting to go on my 318i now.

upside: very stiff; your control arms WILL stay where the eyeball arms hold them. lifetime warranty, and you're supporting a good vendor.
downside: very stiff; you will notice increased NVH.
