Sorry if its already been covered, but saw something that made me think of it the other day...
Round my mates getting some welding done we got chatting about the 735 he broke the other day, and he plans on sticking the 3.5 lump in his E30 instead of the 2.5 (prefacelift high compression nice jobbie!).
Out of boredom I looked at the AFM and its HUGE! Weighs probably a kilo but the air flow must be double that of the M42! Its got a mahoosive 'door' inside, I was shocked at how big it was in comparison!
Question is, would 1 of them fit? Would the sensor be correct? Could the sensor be changed and it run to get better airflow to the engine (I'm referring to an engine that already breathes freer than the stock airbox, like something with a good extra intake/filter on)? Would there be no benefit without a larger TB too?
Thinking this combined with some nicer injectors, knife edging the butterfly's in the TB and a decent air feed should free up a little something...
