Good exhaust set ups. what do you have?

I hate my exhaust. Its too loud! i want to completely redo it. i wouldnt mind a sound a bit above stock. but i am really just over the droning noise of it. i currently have 2 1/4 inch piping all the way from the headers back. with a crappy "sports muffler" on the back. just the regular cat as well. the car sounds great about 4000rpm. but before that it just sounds like a civic.

what is everybody running? and what would you recomend for a quiet yet... above stock sound?

stock piping size from cat back dyno max sounds really good on the car no drone i used to have my exhaust come straight out after the resonator. LOUD AS HELL. i know exactly what your talking about when you say it sounds good at 4000 anything before that is just rasp. very pleased with what i have now.  hope that helps some

Right now i have the stock cat with a glass pack resonator and a dynomax muffler. It is still a bit loud for my tastes but at low RPM it isn't loud at all and has no honda-like high pitch tone to it at any RPM.

I added in the resonator after only having the cat + dynomax and it made a big difference. It didn't make it much quieter but it completely got rid of that raspy noise that made my car sound like a civic. Resonators do a great job at reducing/removing that high pitch sound on any engine.

Have I got a deal for you:

I just replaced the exhaust on my car with a stock exhaust.  The exhaust that I just removed, and would be willing to part with for just $50, is a Walker Turboflow and  a stock resonator.  The system is used, but in good shape.  The Walker Turboflow is 4 months old.

I removed it because I wanted a stock exhaust.  The one that is available is slightly louder than stock, and puts out a little more power than stock.  This system bolts straight onto the flange on the back of your catalytic converter.

This is your chance to try out something else for practically nothing.  Any interest?

sorry, im in australia. but of a pain to get an exhaust here thanks for everyones advice. i think im just going to put stock piping back on and maybe a brand named muffler or something like that. how big is the stock piping? from memory its pretty narrow.

2 1/2 in downpipe, to 2 1/4 in exhaust, no cat, stock resonator, magnaflow muffler and kragen resonated tip.

I'd like a can style exhaust though, just can't help myself, I think it'd look good angled out the back. I like rice with my bratwurst.

Anyone have this setup with a resonator? I'm tempted but may end up with a normal setup.

i have FI plans for the car so i dont want to restict it. i might just go with a quiet muffler and keep the big piping.

i have seen onr turbo E30 with a cannon tilted on it. didnt look....too... bad. but naaaa.

Stock downpipe and header, high-flow cat, Bosal resonator, Magnaflow 11265 muffler, dual stainless tips. Sounds good, but it is reallllyyy loud.

Stock downpipe, first mid-box (no CAT on UK cars!) and a cherry bomb backbox. Its very loud though, to get it quiet again, you'd need a biiiig midbox. The biggest noise restrictor in a normal iS exhaust is the backbox, thats why its huge!

Tbh, IMO middling noise iS's sound pants, they need to be stock quiet or really loud, anything inbetween sounds ricer.
