M44 into E30?
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:19:01 AM »
Hey guys.  I got a cheap M44 ($300) that has lower miles than the engine in my car.  Besides swapping out the intake manifold what would I have to do to make this engine work in my car.  Will my ECU work with this engine?

Thanks to Brad at http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7567/ticevalleysiggv7.jpg">Shutterflick.com for editing the sig.

The biggest issue is that the m44 is an obd2 engine. It is a lot more than swapping intake manifolds, all of the engine sensors are different. I'm sure it is possible to convert it to obd1 somehow, perhaps in the same way that guys convert s52's to obd1 for e30 swaps, but it may not be as straightforward.
