Alright, I'm game. Betty's List:
Install new diff (used 4.27 limited) and bushings (parts waiting)
Replace suspension entirely (lower)
Guibo, ujoints, cv shafts
Clutch, and input shaft bearing on trans (rattle rattle thunder clatter, put the clutch in, man!)
COP kit, replace timing entirely (peace of mind, slight noise)
injectors
pull P/S (bypassed)
body work, all over
new front/rear bumper covers, side skirts
paint
windshield (original? Looks like "Starry Night" because of all the pits)
Turbo, MS3, big exhaust, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel rail(?)
Sticky sticky tires, on some ba rims

Break it, repeat step one.

Haha gotta love that.  My ISB made that awesome noise as well before I put it away for teh snowz.  I hope it magically fixed itself :)

Update:
- ISB (moooother ****er, not on the Bimmer too..!)
- Muffler bracket bangs against the side of the car when turning right
- z4 3.0 shift arm hits driveshaft, prolly due to a POS rear shifter support bushing
- Driver's side indicator decides it's too old and wont turn on (hmmm... :P)
- Replaced leaky PS rack..... with a leaky PS rack :cool:.  At least this one is e36, and leaks less
- Basketweave center caps busted by Midas, and they accepted responsibility....NOT
- Driver's door lock decided it didn't like me (now keyless entry system installed - get owned.)
- A/C doesn't work

But worst of all is the fact that it's STILL sitting under a car cover; now with 6 inches of snow on it soley from today :mad:.  I thought we were done with winter..
Proud owner of "A very cute car" :cool:

Took my car to bathurst for a hillclimb last weekend, and at some stage, my whiteline sway bar bent my endlink mounts on the trailing arms...I'm in the middle of fabricating and welding some reinforcements like TMS's solution.... :-)

I think my second gear synchro is on the way out too. :0

  • dripping oil.

   possible oil filter housing gasket
  • inaccurate fuel gauge.

   driving hard or doing hard turns makes the fuel level somehow/significantly higher but when parked, the level will then settle at a lower level or what i believe is the real amount
  • suspension needs an overhaul badly.

   bottoms out on dips and such though still having a 4x4 stance
  • need a heater bypass valve.

   heater core was replaced already but the valve eventually died
  • needs new tires

   dorifting everywhere when floored whether on dry or wet surface

Figured I'd do an update...since these things never seem to be fixed it's good to know that I've been getting somewhere...

Old problems:
Still overheating slightly, I need to do compression & pressure tests.  Might be the old water pump.
Still needs new struts
Front end vibration at about 70-75.  I suspect a worn rack or column bearings.
That trunk leak is STILL annoying me!  Looks like I have to re-align the trunk & buy a new seal as I routinely find water inside the seal.   My RTV experiments have only been modestly successful.

New problems:
Guibo dying a noisy death.
Fuel tank dented...I'm looking for a good six-cyl tank.
Tires are well worn.

Needs:
E36 rack install (it's sitting on my front porch waiting for good weather)
Installed NA ellipsoids...still considering cheap HIDs (I'm skipping the Euro smileys).
Interior upgrades planned.
Fighting rust.

Fixed!
Two full sets (nine rims) of decent 14" bottlecaps.
4-hole injectors fitted
COP kit installed
Hose delete complete (with RED silicone hoses).
Power steering cured (via elimination).
Front end rebuilt.
ATE PowerSlots & EBC greens still going strong.
Medium case 3.73 LSD still working just fine.
Aux fan fixed (loose/burned fuses).
Left fog light replaced.
Sunroof finally repaired and upgraded to power unit.

daily:
- needs 4 new shocks & bumprubbers;
- needs new front brake discs;

fixxed the drivers seat for the stock one coming out my racecar;
"" cleaned the ICV;
replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator;
Fixxed a weird bogging issue, the connector for the O2 sensor had liquid init, when heating the O2 sensor it made a short cut, giving the DME wrong signals...causing to bog down.

M42 racecar:
- cage;
- cleanup the wiring;
- make a window defogger (or buy a heated windscreen);

Leaky power steering rack. Currently removed the belt to pump and running it with no power assist. I don't mind it but my 15yr old apparently needs to hit the bench press more often as he complains about it at low speeds.

Seriously balding tires. I'll pick up a new set next Spring for it. It's getting benched during the snow season.

Thread from the dead!

Got two cracks on my oil pan.
need to find another pan.. tried jb weld but thats obviously temporary. lol

edit:
this m42 pan is ridiculous... so ridiculous that i even looked into a dry sump setup..
just for the sake of clearance and slamming my car to the ground.
a dry sump setup on a car that would barely pull Gs because it doesn't go to track
and that setup alone would cost four times more than what i paid for the car itself. LOL

edit edit:
bought a lower pan and some plastic trim parts at the yard. i lucked out. i never see m42s there. srsly.
coming back for a straight hood, front strut housings, and maybe the driveline.. lol

*One Recirculation motor doesn't work - in process of fixing
*Door handle Trim cracked

*back speakers blown (tweeter cone disentegrated - have new ones to install)
*stereo only plays radio (CD broken - new media player w/no cd ready to install)
*knob on sunroof crank missing

*door cards, arm rest, door pocket need some duplicolor sprayed on them
*passenger door window felt cracking on outside
*tail light or trunk seal leaking a little
*A/C aux fan squeals a little
*odometer not working (parts on the way)
*back seat has some sun damage at the top - will try and use vinyl repair and duplicolor
*rear deck carpeting faded some
*guage cluster trim couple of cracks from previous owner removing - small potatoes
*missing triangle cover where tweeters go driver side - replacing with tweeter pods - on the way
*brake sensor cable rear passenger - sheath is cracking, it is hanging.  need to replace (don't know if brake sensors are even working)

*front driver side bumper trim cracked
*would like new side turn signal housings
*Some Jackhole superglued a blacked out model emblem on the back.  Looks OK until you get close - this person sucks.
*Wanna repaint black rear IS spoiler

GOOD:
1.  Repainted Brilliant Red by PO - pretty good paintjob car looks sharp
2.  Body is SOLID - only couple small dings you have to look for
3.  No Idle issues at all
4.  New Muffler
5.  New Roundels

Wow, when I type it all out, that is a lot!
