HELP! E36 M42 Intake Manifold Problems
« on: January 30, 2009, 06:07:33 AM »
I need a graphycs showing how does the E36 M42 intake manifold works. There is a valve in the manifold and changes it`s position using vacuum, but I can`t find out graphycs how to get this thing to work properly. I mean, I don`t know how to connect it to vacuum, where from to get the vacuum and so on

Use realoem.com and choose your vehicle. Then click on engine and intake manifold or vacuum control and click the picture depending on your year.

Post a picture of which valve you are taking about? There are few valves in and around the manifold. There is the PCV valve (after 9/93 build date), there is a one-way valve for the vacuum reservoir, there is a electric change-over valve for the vacuum system and there is vacuum box in the intake manifold and there is the idle control valve. You need to be specific.

So is the valve no.6?

If yes - it connects to the electric change-over valve. Have a look for the black-coloured cylinder looking vacuum reservoir. It is located in a rubber mount on the drivers side close to the ABS pump. The change-over valve is above it on a small bracket. On realoem look up your car then look at the vacuum control section. You will see valve no.6 and how it is connected.

As I thought... The black cylinder box is horizontal? under the intake manifold. Thanks :) If I have any other questions I`ll ask you, glad to know you can help me
